Trip Hawkins to AIAS Hall of Fame
- by Angelspit

That is surprising, to say the least. There is an excellent forum post at Blue's News (look for post #1) by a former 3DO employee: "As a pc software developer, 3DO was the king of mediocrity. I've never before or since worked for a company that had so little interest in the quality of their own products. Instead, Trip consistently touted the increasing number of (bad) games we produced each year. Amid this slow downhill tumble of product quality, Trip put extra effort into ensuring the continuing failure of his company by abolishing the Quality Control division"
As for the Might and Magic fans, they will remember Trip as the responsible for the desmise of New World Computing and the Might and Magic series.

EA Responsible for the Delay?
- by Angelspit
LaBoule at Heroic Corner reports that the announcement of Heroes of Might and Magic V was delayed following the purchase of Ubisoft shares by Electronic Arts. It seems that the French publisher might want to wait until it knows a little more about EA's plans before announcing new titles. As you may remember, Electronic Arts is now the largest shareholder in Ubisoft. We should learn a little more about the EA/Ubi situation during the next few weeks.

New Campaign: The Hundred Years War
- by Robenhagen

In the first scenario in the exciting campaign on the famous Hundred Years War, you are the young king Edward III of England. After three years of domination by your mother and her lover, Roger Mortimer, you decide to take control of the government! Also the heritage of the French throne is uncertain after the death of Philip IV (of France) and his sons. The new king of France could be your cousin, Philip of Valois, or it could be you, as your mother, Isabella is the daughter of Philip IV...20 months - that's how much time Rakne Fne and Longshanks has put into this campaign; a 5 map Life-campaign that requires the Winds of War expansion to play (Rakne warns that the campaign cannot be played with the Equilibris MOD). The campaign is balanced for all difficulty settings and should provide a great challenge, no matter what level of difficulty you decide to play at.
The »Hundred Years War« was a series of wars between England and France that actually lasted for 116 years from 1337, when Edward III claimed the French throne, until 1453 A.D., when the English lost Bordeaux. England repeatedly invaded France on the pretext that their kings had a right to the French throne. As the player, you will play the side of the English from year 1337 to 1415.
The maps are based on historical facts and events and throughout the campaign, you can visit Red Victory Flags for optional historical information.
Rakne has set up a topic at the Heroes Round Table, if you want to talk to him about the campaign. If you're not familiar with Rakne Fne's works, you can get all of them here: The Science of Darkness, The Gambler, Robin Hood, Luretia and The Economists.

New map: Savages
- by Robenhagen

For the longest time your kingdom has been threatened by the savages and the impostor from the other side of the lake. It's time to fight back...
Savages is a medium sized 2-player multiplayer map and requires the Shadow of Death expansion. It is also available in German version.
This is the first map by Gunnar on Celestial Heavens, but he has previously made quite a few; all available at Kartenarchiv.

Could the Heroes Online development team at TQ Digital currently be spending long nights away from their wives and girlfriends? Probably - if their recent batch of concept character portraits are anything to go by. View them at your leisure on the Heroes Online Overview page.

The History of Might and Magic
- by Angelspit
The Might and Magic universe contains several regions, continents, even universes. With dozens of significant characters, epic confrontations and simulatenous events, it is a bit difficult to keep track of what happened, and the motivations behind a character's actions. Jay Kaplon has an interesting summary of the most important events, sorted chronologically. The author would like to receive some feedback, so feel free to post a comment if you see anything missing. Another good resource for any Might and Magic history fan out there is Ribannah's Castle Gobs, a very nice-looking site by the well-know Might and Magic Tribute designer.
