All GOG MM titles 30% off this weekend

Unread postby GreatEmerald » 19 Nov 2010, 13:58

GOG.com made all their MM titles 30% off for this weekend (other Ubisoft titles as well):
http://www.gog.com/en/promo/ubisoft_games

Basically that means that every game (MM1-6, HoMM1, HoMM2 and HoMM3) costs $7, unless you buy the whole thing, in which case it gets $5 for each.

Better than Steam.

No DRM, better prices, payment via card. What do you want to know exactly?
(Oh, yes and sometimes they give you a free game.)

What does no DRM mean... don't you have some sort of account program like steam so you can't just make copies of games for friends?

Never tested. You download from GOG complete installer - and from there you can install it wherever you want. At least it seems to.

Doesn't appear to connect to internet, however there looks to be an unique id for every downloaded game. So, think it out yourself. ;)

When you say tested, you mean you never got a game from GoG or you never tried to install it somewhere else?!

I have got a few games from there. Once the installer is downloaded you can unplug the network cable, or take it on a memory stick and go elsewhere to install and play the game (tested all this). Maybe there is a problem if two games from the same installer go to net/LAN simultaneously. Not tried that. Have not noticed any "bonus" programs or tools coming with the installer either. Not that i spent a lot of time searching for them... I conclusion, so far i am positive towards their business.

Wow... that's quite impressive...

Guess i'll have to try it sometime, though likely for old 90's games i've missed.

GOG has been getting a little hate recently because of a questionable publicity stunt (they suggested they might be going out of business, while in fact it was merely a relaunch of their web site). But other than that, they're a great service from what I heard.
I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

This. I just install them all on my one pc. No need for portability.

So far..
Master of Magic (nostalgy), Lords of Magic (another wave of nostalgy), Aquanox, Aquanox2 (better, still doesn't match the original AD.), Descent 3 (it was along the way)

Waiting for..
Planetscape Torment

Finito
:D

Same thing now, most titles are 30% off:
http://www.gog.com/en/page/xmas10
That includes HoMM1-3 and MM1-6.

That's very impressive, to say at least. Thank you man!

Fullfiling my list of:
  • The Longest Journey
    Planescape: Torment
    Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition
    Divine Divinity
to track on. That with Age of Wonders be all for mine Christmas. Looks that I have games which will suffice to the end of my life. ;)

Recently, Games for Windows Live had deals on more recent titles for $1 (Max Payne 2, Viva Pinata, Bioshock...). But there are many gems on that list.
I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

Beneath a Steel a Sky is a very good point and click adventure from the olden days.

Tyrian is an awesome top-down arcade shooter. I've played through it many many times. The various weapon upgrades are probably the most fun aspect of the game.
