Unread postby The Shadow » 20 Jul 2006, 09:25

QUESTION:

1.Would you buy a cool fantasy poster for say $50 ?

2. If the answer is 'no' then why?

The reason for this stupid questions is because of an argument
I am having with a friend. I need some "unaltered" feedback.
Please be a part of this survey and help me kick his *put in what you like*

please give your honest opinions

Thanx guys.

No.

Complete waste of money. I can think of a number of things I'd rather like to spend $50 on.

I agree with Kalah. $50 for a poster is crazy.

Yup, pretty crazy money for one poster. For 50$ it would have to be able to serve me breakfast in bed or something. So answer is no :)

A figurine of 10 cm large can be bought for about $10-$20 here(with a few more for painting),so spending $50 on a poster is simply not worth it.Unless its a poster that can cover a few stories of a building, that is

To support the other party :

Yes.

My house boasts a couple of paintings. Some of my friends have framed posters brightening up their walls. I’ve often wondered about the differences.
The only real differences between the 2 for me are that paintings are unique and generally more expensive, so I think that evens out nicely.

Yeah that's the point, they're massproduced and thus the 50$ is to high a price I think. It would have to be something more than just having a cool image in the usual poster-material.

Yeah, for 50 bucks it should have Ivanova's signature and phone number... ;)

Depends how you look at it I guess. Televisions are mass-produced as well. The value of an object is not measured by the materials used and usually not by the level of uniqueness, but by the experience/emotion it brings.

Art always was an exception, but I think opinions on that are shifting. You guys are just lagging a bit

Decoration as a whole and creating the desired atmosphere is becoming more important than single unique objects.
If a poster fits the atmosphere you are trying to create, then its value is increased.

If it was a rare poster, then it might be worth 50$ just for that. That's why works of art are expensive, they are one of a kind, unique. Superrare that is. If Leonardo da Vinci had painted 1000 Mona Lisa's, each painting wouldn't be as awed as the one we have now.

But of course, if the poster was in fashion in regards to decoration (or for any other reason at that) it'd sell for more too. Just like clothing that's in fashion sells for way more than cost compared to unfashionable clothing. Plenty of conditions that could make one want to spend that much on a poster, really. But I didn't read the question as bearing any such conditions in mind.

Since the question doesn't really give any condition (except that the poster is cool), imo your answer should be yes too. :)
Or 'possibly'.

Thanx you guys, I really appreciate the effort you made.
I posted this topic today and you all contributed a lot already. YOU RULE!!!

Etheric's right, here's a bit more detail. It's Your normal poster material,
but go and take a look at Blizzard's fan art section. Let's take that pictures
and create it into posters. Would you Pay $40 - $50 for one of those
really good one's?

I wanted to keep the sides even for my friend, but stuff that. It's alot of money for me...

I try to be objective... ;|

No Etheric, that's not my plan.

My friend and I have a debate about this, because he thinks an idea like this would sell. Merely trying to prove his a$$ wrong B-)

I told him it wouldn't work, so I'm just proving it post after post... :D

Ethric, just the one e ;)

It might work, fanbois are suckers and will buy anything. At 50$ each the sales may not be high enough to warrant the effort (and Blizzard would be seen as greedy b@stards), but if set a bit lower it might be profitable.

Sorry about t "E" bud... :devious:

Ahhh... you're bustin' my groove here with your honesty... :(

But I like it, thanx.

Yeah maybe, but I think it may still be a bit dodgy because any business
are based on a want and if there's no want, there's no market...

If you ask $35 max, you might get away with it. ;|

No.

With my current salary of 280 Lt per month (~101,43$ per month) that would be stupid. ;)
