Playing old Campaigns in TotE

Unread postby Akul » 13 Jan 2008, 11:27

Is it possible to temporarily disable TotE campaigns and put H5std or HoF campaigns in their place?
Also, how can I play old Scenarios in TotE?
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

This should help. Original game Maps, repackaged as .h5m files to be played under TotE though you will miss the cutscenes.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

And the hero cannot be transferred to the next mission with all his experience either, right? Seems little point in playing them like that.

Note that the campaign scenarios are playable as single independent missions, not (yet) campaigns.
Unfortunately so but this is the closest I could find.

You can now play old campaigns in TotE, thanks to Sfidanza.

I extracted all files to UserMODS directory as you said, but nothing new shows up when I start the game. Only the ToTE campaign shows up. Is there something else I need to do?

You do not need to extract anything. the packages come with .h5u extension.

However, if you use Internet explorer they might got renamed to rar/zip... change them back to h5u and move as a package to UserMOD-s, do NOT extract anything.

Yes, the .h5u extension was stripped when I downloaded the files and they are seen as WinRAR files. So, I renamed them to add the .h5u extension back on and then copied them to the usermods directory. Same result, though. I see nothing new when I start the game. Sorry if I'm doing something wrong. Has anyone else successfully installed these?

I finally got it working. You might want to add a note to your download instruction to make sure not to download it as a WinRAR file. IE does that by default and then you can't even rename it. It still thinks it's a WinRAR file, even when it's renamed. I had to delete them and download again with a generic file type instead of WinRAR. Then it worked.

Thanks for doing this! I'm looking forward to playing the campaigns again in ToTE!

Sfidanza strikes again!

It'll be wonderful to play the old campaigns under TotE!

Solution would be to go to folder options in XP, select "view" tab. then un-check "hide extension for known file types". You should be able to properly rename the "common" files after that.
Anyway, just download the file with Firefox or opera and it should be fine :)

Problem

Unread postby shep61 » 24 Jan 2008, 18:08

Sfidanza, this is great work! Thanks!

However, I have a serious problem in HV C1M4 (The Queen - The Trap). The mission success event fails to trigger. I have the boots and cross the river. The game autosaves when I hit the end of the bridge, like it knows it needs to do something, but then the mission never ends.

This is serious, as I cannot then proceed beyond this mission. I have beaten this mission many times, so I know I'm doing everything I need to do to complete it..........

It is supposed to show a video/cut scene at this time.
But AFAIK you don't get videos when playing the old campaigns in ToE...

I don't care about the video or cut scene. I just need the mission to end.

Sfidanza, I did finally get it to work, but I had to download the cut scenes. Once they were installed it went to the cut scene and then ended the mission. Therefore, installing the cut scenes is not optional......
