Great game by Steve, again.

After enjoying Warlords and Warlords Battlecry, this game (which is set in the same universe) comes as an very good addition.

I'm a bit confused by this news item...what does it have to do with this site?

However, I'm trying out the demo at this very moment, and I find the game to be very fun and addictive. :D

Nothing, other than the fact that Angelspit loves the game and it's his site. :O)

Yes, the PC demo has been out since about March and we've been waiting for it all this time. I just pre-ordered my Puzzle Quest for Windows for $19.99 US, from Amazon.com :oex:

The link is simple: one of the people behind Puzzle Quest is Steve Fawkner, who was a consultant for Heroes V. It's a fantasy RPG, and our good friend Fabrice likes it as you can see above. And I like to plug innovative games once in a while; I'm not much into the MMO trend.

And yeah, it's my site. :D

This game was really ideal for the DS and one of the best portable games I can think of, but it seems to me it lacks the depth to be a PC game. Even were I playing while sitting at the PC, say, while I was chatting, I'd still use the DS version.

Can those of you who have played the full game tell me if there's enough variety? How long does it takes to complete the single-player game? Is the story any good?

Completing the SP game once takes around 10-15 hours. I completed the game a few months ago, so its a vague value. There is lots of secondary stuff that can take time : spell research, artefacts, etc. You can replay it with a different characters, it *will* change the way you play in battles. And MP game (duels) on the net should be an endless experience - i'll probably play again to try this part out.

I'm afraid that multiplayer suffers from same problem as Warlords Battlecry 3. Everyone has UBER hero, and UBER gets a new meaning after you play battlecry or puzzlequest. Most people have level "million" hero with skills that kills any opponent in 1 turn. Many of them start with necesarry mana to pull the move at start anyway, so you dont even get a chance to act. It was same in Battlecry where all the nice tuning and little touches to every unit's stats were rendered useless once you get a hero that owns million of units anyway.

But the PQ game is very good for its price and interesting singleplay and even multiplay unless you are playing versus hardore gamers, but they are not different in heroes anyway :)

Long live noobs and intermediates!!

I've noticed that too. It must be the Bermuda Triangle of CH.

The bat, perchance? I couldn't believe the bastard's luck when it came to cascades. I quit the game after losing, and then I returned because I could not live with the fact I was beaten by a skinny little bat, so after a lot of cursing and foaming at the mouth, I finally beat him. :D

It's the Mutated Gaint Whale feeling lonely. It's trying to draw our attention. :)

I guess the game is good for some sort of stress-relief.
IIRC, I kept losing to the troll.

For demo players (if they want additional demo challenge=:

Collect money from town and battles until you build siege workshop.

That will enable two hardest battles of the demo, which are sieges of 2 southern towns.

But since there is level cap in demo, it is almost impossible to beat those 300HP gargantuans.

left one is a bit easier, and is beatable, but right one = suicide :)
