Alright guys, I messed around with these two programs all day yesterday, and I would think that as often as I utilize both of them, I would know the answer to this question. First off, this is what I am trying to do:
I am mapping a new region, and I have 13 brand new landmass textures that need to put into my Bitmaps.LOD file. These textrues are to take the place of an existing landmass texture. These files are 8-bit 96dpi bitmap images, but apparently there is something about my bitmap images that these programs don't like. For example, I can export 13 existing landmass textures from MM8's Bitmaps LOD file and add them into MM7's Bitmaps LOD file successfully. When I try adding my own textuers to the MM7 LOD file, I get the usual 'Error while running task: java.lang.NullPointerException.' Upon investigating further, it's a 'java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException.' I can add these 13 bitmaps using LodAdd, and they appear to successfully import, but upon loading that region in-game, the game crashes.
Does anyone here know what is wrong with my bitmap images?

i'm not sure about the mistake...but try this one:
http://sites.google.com/site/sergroj/mm ... ive-v1.0.3
it will be able to add or replace files.
so you can add more extra files to you LOD file, tested by myself.
it also can add 24-bit images...but better not to do so - reducing quality will result in bad sprite quality, so do it in photoshop before importing.

Ok. I`m using the program you suggested. It looks like a great tool! However, I can not add my bitmaps because of a pallette error. i read the help file which discusses the issue, but im still doing something wrong. This is what I am doing:
I took one of my 13 of my landmass graphics and named it pal092, but when I use the program to `add` that pallette, it fails. Since I can`t add the pallette, I can not add the 13 new landmass textures. Any idea what I`m doing wrong? Thanks!

i guess pal092 are in use.
there is a about pal001-pal400+ palettes. so you should know exact possible name for you palette.
also you have to import not a PAL file itself, but a BMP 8 bit picture, if i remember correctly - editor will automatically transform that BMP into PAL file.

You must first extract the color pallet info from you bitmap and then reformat it before importing it into the .LOD file.Vector wrote:

If you have already done that, how many HEX bytes is the pallet you are trying to import?

Glad ya got it working. Have fun and Good Luck!Vector wrote:I got it guys. I just used the .act file format for pallettes instead. As for what was wrong with the other type of pallette, BDJ was one step ahead.... it wasnt 768 bytes as I thought. I need to pay more attention! Thanks.
