You should be able to see the Heroes VI game version number on the main screen of the game. The one that appears when you run the game. The number is in the lower right corner of the screen.saugeen123 wrote:my games is in English. How do I know if my game has been patched to the latest version? also does it matter when I install the tear?

What is the exact version number that you see?
If it is something like 1.0.10, 1.0.120, that is old. Needs to be 1.2.1. If it is not 1.2.1, you have an old version. Did you buy Heroes VI from Ubi, from Steam, Green Man Gaming, another location?
Usually, sometimes the game might not update. But if you run gu.exe instead of the other game EXE, it should download and update to the next/latest patch.
Here is how it should look like, and does for me:
------------------------------
For some reason, unlike Heroes V, I don't think there are actual links for downloading of the standalone patches, at least not yet.
I think the only way to update is via the gu.exe (Game Updater).

What version of Windows are you running?saugeen123 wrote:the version number I see is 1.0.317598. I bought the game back in October when it was first released. It was the deluxe digital down load from UBI.
OK, seems you got the old version (VERY old).
Run gu.exe from the game folder, and it should show a progress bar, download the update and install it. Please tell me if that works, or not.

You need patch 1.2.1!! Patch 1.1.1 is from October.
Patch 1.2 is from December. Patch 1.2.1 is from January.
Don't you have a gu.exe file in the game folder?
Running that EXE file should update the game to latest patch. Run it 2-3 times, if needed.

Hmm, ok then! Could you clarify, what do you mean by "patches there waiting for me"? I don't really understand that part. I assume you ran the gu.exe ?? And it found the patches, downloaded them and installed them?saugeen123 wrote:I don't have a folder quite like yours. But I did find a game folder in my start menu. And there were 3 patches there waiting for me. So now my game is patched to the latest version - 1.2.1. Thanks everyone for all your assistance.
On my PC, on the other hand, there is nothing in the Start menu.
I think even the Desktop icon for the game I had to create myself.
My game is the Russian version though.

I use windows 7. I clicked on the start menu which displays all programs . I clicked on the games folder then Homm 6 folder then a patch downloaded and then installed it it into my game. I did that 2 or 3 times. I don't have a folder like you displayed with a qu.exe program. My game is in Canadian English. And the desktop icon for the game was created automatically.
