My usual strategy in heroes is to race to the enemy and bottle him up in his castle with a secondary hero with lots of troops, while I go around kill neutrals till I hit my level cap. I've been playing it for week. I really really tried, but this has to be the dullest game I've ever played. I can't begin to believe there's a whole genre of games like it. Who does this appeal to?

I think Heroes II is the pinnacle. I still get the urge to play it, which I don't with Heroes III -- Heroes V kinda replaces III for me since it is rather similar and yet there's more to do. (I mean in terms of gameplay obviously the Heroes III, Chronicles and IV win on story hands down.) Heroes II ...

Also, who says the symbol is Ourboros? it takes place on a different world, and Nival may have written their own myth to explain it.

In The Worm Ouroboros, by E. R. Eddison, it stood for eternal life, but the immortal characters were all either evil or punished by the gods with immortality.
