I'm sure the problem is that almost all rooms contain all sprites. That's a trick I used in edit mode to see all sprites and it seemed to work fine, but during compilation the Editor should assign entities to rooms (almost) properly. If it is so, graphics upgrade couldn't be extremely hard. Thing is, it requires to rewrite all game mechanics from scratch, and it is extremly hard. How to make interface like on screenshot ? Remove "UI.txt" from "Data" folder. The solution is easy - for zombies created at the Character Creation, just remove the Zombie status for them. That's what i don't want to do. Having same portrait for zombie and not-a-zombie condition...

Have you tried to install latest Grayface's patch? ( https://grayface.github.io/mm/#GrayFace-MM8-Patch )
"F:\MM8src\MM8\Code\Screen16.cpp at line number: 2542" - sounds like problem with switching True color to High color mode. Latest patch supports True color and have to fix the issue.
