I'm not sure, but it may be that the game uses a variant of LithTech engine, MM9 used the Talon version.

I agree with that.

I think it may be useful when NPC or quests give generic directions for a place, like "go west of the river", etc... I would prefer it next to the minimap as in MM6.

I also second that. :) Basically, my whole point is if we have a beautiful merge, it would be great to merge the strongest parts of all parts: in mm6 it's balance: - Monsters are strong, there's very few in whole game you can safely clear very few locations due to monsters magic. - trading is not op...

I totally agree with you. Concerning the house, I believe that the original designers went with textured flat buildings to keep the polygon count lower and make the game more accessible to the people at that time. Probably, if they were to do it now, they would make more detailed buildings like the ...

Great work Jamesx! I like MM6 style faces much more than the MM7 and 8 ones, because real person faces give me a higher immersion feeling.
