The only thing I can think of: The AI has MANY Rampart towns with Treasury. Once you have a certain amount of money (virtually billions) the number becomes negative. Accumulating such an obscenely high amount would usually take much longer than 6 months though.

Hm, I just did an auto combat test with a Lv 1 Alchemist hero (1,1,2,2), set Gremlin to 99999 FV and Walking Dead to 1 FV, then engaged a stack of 20 Walking Dead with 1 Gremlin and lost. Tried again with 5 gremlins, lost again. Finally won with 20 Gremlins. The funny thing is that I should've easil...

to corbon: storms do have melee penalty So, 9 airs will beat 8 storms in quick combat, or both quick and auto combat? I forgot are the outcomes the same? Psst, right click Storm Elementals :P You can also check it out by yourself by blessing them and comparing the damage of a ranged and a melee att...

The Fight Value determines the AI strength of a unit. For example, both Air and Storm Elementals have the same value, 324. Pitting 9 Airs against 8 Storms without the aid of a hero would result in an AI win for the Airs. In reality, this outcome would be extremely unlikely, since Storms are faster a...

Since a unit's speed does not affect fight value (lazy programming, no less), it will give you some freedom to tinker around with it. Among the changes in speed I made (does not include other changes and Conflux) Marksman 4 -> 5 Monk 5 -> 6 Angel 12 -> 13 Harpy 6 -> 7 Manticore 7 -> 8 Red Dragon 11 ...

The Badge of Courage provides complete mind spells immunity in every H3 version. B-) (Here's no need to test - Pol said that :p ) Just to clarify, the Orb of Vulnerability nullifies the NATURAL resistance of creatures but it doesn't counter the effect of artifacts like the Badge, Pendant of Second ...

Well I tried the map Age of Legends for a start and it was a disaster. Without spells like Fly, Dimension Door or Town Portal it's impossible to defend your towns with a strong hero. I was eventually defeated by a hero with 30 in ALL stats, my main hero had like 8, 8, 20, 20 almost solely from level...

Best Heroes III Maps to download (from here)

Any size and version. There are SO MANY files and most of them don't have a rating so I want to narrow it down somewhat. In general, which maps are fun to play and have a good reputation? Ok, trying to be more specific. -I STRONGLY prefer free choice of Faction and Hero, maybe some limitations. This...

At Expert level it may become useless since it might screw up your battle tactic (Self-Buff and Enemy Blind removal).

Effective? Yes. Efficient? No.

Eh, just because it seems to "break some magic rules" doesn't make Dispel the "most powerful" spell. I'd give that honor to one of the world spells like Dimension Door or Town Portal.

The coding for the grail seems to be significantly different from the other artifacts. For example, its listed price is always 0 Gold, even with the spot price bug, and it can't be "sold" for 0 Gold either. It's important when creating a map with the only winning condition of a grail struc...

I just noticed something about the grail. I defeated an enemy hero carrying it (100% sure because I "saw" the hero digging for it in the correct spot) but did only win a regular artifact (Vampire's Cowl). I know that if a hero currently carrying the grail flees /surrenders a battle, the gr...

Sacrifice doesn't need to have an evil connotation. Think about the righteous warrior cliché who sacrifices himself by holding up the enemy so that his companions won't be harmed and are able to escape. But in the Heroes world it's definitely not a pleasant thing, giving the term fodder a completely...

The reason why Curse is a Fire spell is simply a balancing issue and a Heroes thing. There's no real "Dark Magic" in Heroes, with Earth taking the spot and Water being the "Holy" equivalent. Also, the EFFECT of cursing an enemy varies from game to game, whether it's only dealing ...

Well the Conflux bulk was designed around the Lv 2-5 elementals. They didn't change the base creatures so they didn't need to screw with the Summon Elemental spells. They did a craptastic job in designing the upgrades and the missing levels 1, 6 and 7.
