If we're talking about Vanilla MM7, I'd just beeline straight to Shrapmetal, Sacrifice, and Souldrinker. I honestly don't think Armageddon is broken at all in the games. I rarely ever used it in MM6 or MM7. I might've used it in Evenmorn Island or Barrow Downs, but I never did it for the XP. I did it so I could interact with the torch contests and didn't want to risk getting one-shotted by the enemies ...

Use this tool and put the files in icons.lod
I'd recommend making a backup of the files you edit though. Also, iirc, some of Echo's character portraits have some missing textures/incorrect textures. I don't remember which ones though

If I could change something, it'd be being able to see what the last card played was in case of a tie/victory/loss. The victory/tie/loss screen covers what the finishing card was.

In Snergle's Iron Mines (Darkmoor location), when you rescue the dwarf from one of the cells and he gives you the key to Snergle's Chambers, the screen is very glitchy.

I did some testing with Scout NPC (Adds +6 Perception) and Psychic NPC (Adds +5 perception)
Are those NPCs bugged? Even if they're in my party, they don't affect my perception skill in regards to opening doors in the Superior Temple of Baa or being able to pick up crystals.

Good news, you can cast it.
Bad news, all the locations are messed up. e.g. if you want to go to Free Haven, it takes you to Sorpigal instead. I donno if it's just me with the issue.
