Hey there, I'm new here, and I always liked HOMM, but only recently I've been able to own my own copy of HOMM- V! Even better is the hot-seat feature!
So now onto questions!
1.) I have a level five magic guild. There is Puppet Master and Ressurect. I bring my Knight back to town, but he doesn't learn any of those skills. Why? I'm Haven.
2.) Are there any other Hot-Seat maps other than FFA?
3.) Will the patches substantially improve Hot-Seat gameplay?
4.) If I install patches, will they make current saves unplayable?
I'm currently in the middle of a Hot-Seat game with a friend, we have a saved game, and I err... want to get the upper hand, but I can't figure out how to obtain Puppet Master.
Thanks for your time all!

1. To learn high level spells you need to have basic, advanced, and expert magic of the appropriate type(dark for puppet master and light for ressurection). Basic = Level 3 spell, Advanced = Level 4 spell, Expert = Level 5 Spell. Level 1-2 spells everybody can learn.
2. Not at the moment until the next patch comes out(1.3).
3. I honestly hope so but by looking at nival's track record it doesn't seem that likely.
4. In some cases from what I hear yes, however, it had no effect on my saved game.
No prob and welcome to the forum!

Re: Some newbie questions about gameplay...
Current patch install instructions recommend restarting campaign missions after applying patch.h4mx0r wrote:4.) If I install patches, will they make current saves unplayable?
So whil you still can continue saved games, it is NOT recommended.
