Klaus too powerfull?

Unread postby stijn » 20 Jul 2006, 19:45

Cavaliers and Paladins in
hero’s army get additional
jousting bonus as hero gains
new levels (+2%/level).

from the unofficial guide. now i haven't played much with haven cause i always find them kinda boring, but klaus seems to be really powerfull. at level 15-20 (the time where the decisive battles are being held), paladins get a bonus of 30-40%, which means that they do 40-50% more damage for each (!) tile covered. with a speed of 8 this means that they can do 400% more damage!! 100-150 damage.....

now that seems kinda powerfull to me.

(btw i don't know wether the jousting bonus is just added or multiplied, i calculated 50%*8=400% more damage, but it could also be 1.5^8=25.6 times more damages, LOL!)

Yep, Labyrinth (or Jerrie as he's known here) is pretty psyched that his character is so freaking strong (that's him if you weren't already aware of it). :O) Fairly unbalancing though. I'm hoping they tone him down a bit with a patch.

Yeah that's powerful, but you can't use it until you get Cavaliers and that takes a few weeks. Archer specialist f.e you can benefit from immedietly.

If I ever go up against Klaus in MP then it's everything on the Paladins!

yeah, but they can take out your strongest units usually in their first attack

also.. isnt this bonus just for Jousting? and as far as i know, jousting is just attacking from 1 end of the feild to the very other end, so thats almost always going to be just 1 attack every round right?

Add divine guidance and it could be 2 or even up to 3 or 4 with morale and haste ;)

No,jousting is just moving at least one tile. And because of their high initiative, with benediction they could dance around the enemy for a very long time.

You split your Cavaliers/Paladins into 2 or even 3 stacks when you use Klaus since one stack charging across the field will almost always be overkill.

When I use Klaus, I split my army into 2 stacks of Paladins, 2 stacks of Archangels, and 3 stacks of Inquisitors. Paladins charge, Archangels resurrect, Inquisitors buff, and I get Dark magic for Klaus so he can Confuse/Frenzy/Blind enemy shooters.

That chart is unbelievable. And to think necro and academy got nerfed a bit. Meh, can't just say those were the only nerfings...there are tons not mentioned that we will have to figure out. At this rate, there are more bugs put in the game than taken out. I hope somebody who is good at coding can make some mods that fix these problems. We need a WoG for HOMM V before it's finished :P

Well don't lump in necro and academy with this. Those are entire races, this is just one hero. He nerds to be narfed, and narfed hard. Then again, some would also say that pallies need to be narfed hard, but that's another story.

You guys say nerf this nerf that. Let Nival deal with everything. Wait for the balance patch. U all know thet they get the statistics from every game played on MP and - from users who allow it - from SP.

And balance issues are the kind of thing that ought to be discussed. Trying to balance a game without massive player input is a nightmare, but if we all shut up about it, then's there's very little likelihood of things getting fixed.

And how are they supposed to do that when people have been using console to cheat in MP. And since I hear multiplayer isn't that much more playable now, it could take a year for enough "useable" feedback.

Yes, let's forget about it and trust that the people who think logarithmic growth for stack spellpower is balanced fixes things :disagree:

If they are not gonna nerf herd Claus, a petition would be the right thing too do, since monkeys works at Ubival. I s it really that hard for them to 8| their eyes and see what a mess this game is, including this clausthrophobic insane ability?
