but "bug" is a really vague term it can mean a lot of things:
Bug, informally can mean any "creepy-crawly", insect, other arthropod, snail, or slug
:devious: oh got better not start this again :devious:

I'm pretty sure that Bug isn't a valid scientific name. So bug=small insect-like thing works fine for me. But a town of Giant Bugs isn't really very interesting.

i think it could work...

Black Ant - Fire Ant

Forest Spider - Black Widdow

Mousquito - Bloodhunter

Giant Scorpion - Lethal Scorpion

Spitting Spider - Blinding Spider

Black Wasp - Yellowjacket

Praying Mantis - Manic Mantis

with a little help, it just might get a few looks...

on second thought, its hopeless...

There are the "true bugs", which have all or parts of their forweings having hard portions, as opposed to the membranes that they and other insects use for flying. Thus, none of the creatures in the above suggestion is really a "bug"...

No, none of the above are "true bugs". See they wouldn't use the "true" part if bugs wasn't used for the rest.

how about an water-based town:

lv1 pirate -> sea maurader (bonus on ships, treasure finder)
lv2 mermaid -> ;| (charm)
lv3 siren -> ;| (flying, ranged, song of death)
lv4 naga warrior -> naga guardian (3way attack, no retal, ingore no retal)
lv5 giant turtle -> seige turtle (resist physical, seige)
lv6 naga priestess -> naga queen (spell caster)
lv7 kraken -> leviathan (submerge, bind ship, devour) (or MGW) :devious:

all creatures except the mermaid and kraken can go on land (maybe mermaids could have legs when not near water?),
all creatures travel along rivers as if they were roads.
all except pirate and siren don't need boat to travel on water
turtles and nagas have varying movement penalties on dry land (not swamps)

abilities
---------
treasure finder: digging doesn't take whole day, only take the amount movement needed to visit a adventure object.
charm: same as mermaids in h4
song of death(ability): chance to kill a number of creatures from each enemy stack, number of creatures killed depends on number of sirens and the level of the creature effected.
seige: can attack gates and walls, take less damage from arrow towers.
submerge: become invisible to all except the owner and other submerged krakens.
bind ship: hold a ship in place so it cannot move, if the ship wants to move, it must fight the krakens.
I used to be indecisive, now I am not so sure...

that would require H4 style creature movement though, wouldnt it? not to mention being impossible to balance. bind ship is a nice idea though.

Well, there already was a suggestion for an ocean town somewhere.Id like to see it.But without the pirates. It would be very interesting to have a town that has a bonus on water but penalty on land.

And whats wrong with HIV movement?(yes,I know. The rule :disagree: ).And it wouldnt be imposible to balance at all.Just a bit difficult. But,balancing is always difficult.

heroes 3/5 still have fast/slow creatures on the aventure map, so those movement bonus/penalty could apply for when those creatures are in the army.

also, why would it be impossible to balance? :|
i admit it would be hard..

true, that would work. and no, it wouldnt be impossible to balance, but quite dificult... a town with bonuses to stats and such in water and penalties on land, like DL said, would make the game much more interesting. then you just give the Dungeon town obvious underground bonuses, and make a third map layer in the air with its own town (move the angel there?) and give them bonuses in the air. it could work.... but that would really be (almost) impossible to balance...

Once apon a time there was a game called starcraft. It had three races, each so different from the other,as the sun is different from the earth.Yet they were made in such a perfect balance, that there was exactly 33.33333...% chance of winning with each of the race.An imposible thing to achieve, many would say,but the mighty blizzard did it.Why cannot it be repeated? Is it really so hard for a company owning billions of dollars and hiring the smartest persons in the world to repeat what was done once before?

yeah, when is starcraft 2 comming out..... it's like every 2 years or so i suddenly remeber startcraft and get all exicted about the prospects of starcraft 2 and then i go on the internet and find nothing :(

about the layer in the sky, i thought about that (and moving angels) it could be a race of winged ppl (just not as big and "holy" the angel) but the thing is even if we can fill the town with good/interesting creatures, they would all be flying...

so intead why don't we just have a sky layer with no town but have interesting new adventure objects, which could be guarded by the flying creatures we already have, basically 3 layers to the map
I used to be indecisive, now I am not so sure...
