Mini-Artifacts in a Month

Unread postby Angelspit » 02 Oct 2007, 15:48

Remember the Utopia in a Month strategy article? There is a similar post on the official forum, this time about the usefulness of the artificer skill. Some players complain that unlike gating or necromancy, mini-artifacts will not help you with creeping and is of little use until the final battle. The biggest fan of the Academy, Sir Charles, shows us that <a href="/http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... >artificer can be used in the first month of a game. His day-by-day report is based on the Heritage map, playing at Hard. As of today, the debate still goes on with posts by Jolly Joker and Elodin.

How do you feel about Artificer and the Academy as a whole?

Must be a slow news day. You're using a post of mine as a news feature? hehe.

A good post though :) I doubt many people consider building mini arties before week 4 and if nothing else it is food for thought.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Initiative boost from mini-arties kicks butt! With Titans, Archmages and Gremlins boosted, they can slaughter all ranged attackers immediately and then pick off remaining threats one by one. Add in magic resistance to mini-arties, and maybe hitpoint boost for gremlins and mages, and you have formidable and well-defended first-strike army! I have had teriffic success with this combo. Defend Genies with magic resist and defense boost.

The one mini-arti that I'm constantly trying to get players to use is the Armor Crushing arti on Steel Golems. It's incredibly effective in the early stages of the game by knocking out all the enemy's defense and allowing the Gremlins to fill them full of holes.

And I do get the feeling that people don't think I play the other factions. *grin* I do. I swear. I really do play the other towns. :O)

News will be slow until the game comes out I guess. A couple of magazine previews would be nice too.

Got it...and replied. E-mail's been a bit squirrelly lately, hopefully the kinks are worked out.

Take a look at the genies lamp for a savegame if you want to try it yourself.

Actually, after a few suggestions from JJ, I changed that original save-game file. The new one is an original 1.5 version. That way everyone can try.

Hey, if nothing else, it made me change something on my ancient news page. LOL.

for me, they tend to be a tad bit expensive in the beginning...

but then again, there isn't really a racial that's good from the get go, other than necromancy. even that, at 2.1, is a bit limited, so hrm.

Thanks Sir Charles. I like to play this faction, which is a little weaker than the others. I too have found that the mini artifacts are a saving grace, but I always waited until around week four in order to build up my army as fast a possible.
