Jinx Hunts the Dark Messiah

Unread postby Angelspit » 14 May 2006, 13:19

<a href="/http://e3.ubi.com/features_fd.php"><img src="/http://e3.ubi.com/ss/thumbnail_fd_darkMessiah.gif" align=left vspace=10 hspace=10></a>Ubisoft sent the Frag Dolls at E3 and the interviews they made can be found on <a href="/http://e3.ubi.com/features_fd.php">this site</a>. On the bottom right is a movie where Jinx, now a brunette, talks with Romain de Waubert de Genlis and Raphael Colantonio of Arkane Studios. With the French accent and the noisy environment, poor Jinx doesn't seem to hear the answers to her questions. Unless you really miss the former Might and Magic community manager, you might very well skip this one.

Head to PAL Gaming Network instead, as their <a href="/http://palgn.com.au/article.php?id=4586 ... ">analysis of the Dark Messiah E3 demo</a> is quite interesting. They note that players will not be rewarded for killing enemies, but for clearing objectives. So while we won't get any RPG flavor in that game, at least the less aggressive players will be allowed some freedom, <i>à la Deus Ex</i>. There is also a word about the way each creature will approach each battle: <i>"There are even some creatures in the game that have incredible smelling senses and can smell you out if you’re nearby. There was also one boss battle that we saw where the player ran underneath a rock to avoid it, but it wasn’t soon after that the boss actually lifted the rock away to attack the player."</i> E3 is over now, and Heroes V will soon be in store.

Huh?! Doesn't D&D give you experience only for quests too?! And being able to make XP without having to kill things makes it more of a RPG then not. Killing orcs isn't exactly Role Playing...

No,D&D in its basic form gives you XP for everything. And yes,its much nicer to have XP just for solving quests.

At least I had no problems to listen all the conversation till the end. Not that I really concentrated what they were telling about - the usual "game is great blah blah" stuff.

One thing I'm sure about, however, is that DMoMM will be a hit, at least judging the video.
