Quiz: Round #9

Unread postby Kalah » 23 Feb 2012, 00:17

More quizzes! MOAAR QUIZZEEEES!! The previous round's answers are here.

17. Imagine that you want to test how much damage a single casting of Inferno (or, let's say, Armageddon, or something similar) can do to a single stack (via Martyr, of course). You control all the stacks on the battlefield. At some point of the battle you control a couple dozen of stacks (or more) but for a couple of turns you want the fastest hero to cast spells, while all the others defend. How do you make those couple of turns not last forever? You can use some spells to help you achieve that.

18. A level 40 hero with all magic skills at Grandmaster level with 1 genie and a handful of Imps attacks a small neutral army of Ogre Magi. At some point the situation on the battlefield looks like in the picture below. What happened and approximately how many Genies are there on the battlefield?

I'd like to contribute, but I don't really understand questions. ;|

17. What is the problem with pressing 'D' several times? Like, regular way?
18. For some weird reasons mage does not want to finish the battle quickly with minimum mana use. Obviously, a magic well or a castle is nearby. So he wasted a lot of mana on different summons. He used imps to steal mana from ogres. He lost 1 stack of imps. Seeing the overwhelming advantage I don't see why the number of genies is relevant at all. Is it a question about artifacts and actions used to maximize number of genies?

OK, I'll post the answers ... :)

Question 17:
Cast Mirth on your active hero and set animations speed not too high (depends on your reflex). After the hero's action press and hold 'D' key until the hero gets good morale on the next turn. On slower animation speeds you have time to stop holding 'D' before your hero's action comes. Cast a spell and press 'D' again ...

Question 18:
There is some 389
thousand Genies in the picture. The hero cast Hypnotize and Magic Mirror on a stack of Ogre Magi, cast Create Illusion of the one Genie and then, when the effect of Hypnotize ended, cast Magic Leech on the Ogre Magi. It was reflected, so they got spellpoints whenever the hero cast a spell. Those spellpoints were then drained by Imps and some of them were transferred to the illusionary Genies, who cast Create Illusion on themselves one time too many.
Their Create Illusion spell is now supposed to create an illusion with negative hitpoints, so they can create no illusion at all. Quicksand was created by summoned Water Elementals and 3 other stacks of Ogre Magi were destroyed by summoned Mantises.
