Ancient Wyvren Instant Death

Unread postby Drakeero » 03 Nov 2009, 06:17

Is there anyway to avoid or negate it?

It's absolute hell when trying to go through with a single person. In melee I can beat the suckers into the dirt, ranged not so much. But its hard to mash them into the dirt when they do that insta kill thing.

Yes, Protection from Magic on Grandmaster level. If you don't have a Cleric, you're screwed, unless maybe they have some pedestals over at Eeofol, although I doubt they're of GM level.

Just take 'em out at range!
Shoot and run, till they're dead. Berserk them so they can help kill other wyverns as well.

On a similar note, be aware that Minotaur Lords and Blood Titans have the same ability, so be mindful of that when you do Nighon and Eeofol.

And no, there is no item bonus that protects from instant death in the same way that "of Freedom" items protect from paralysis, etc.

..and if you're referring to the Avlee area...

I always save before going into the area. I check to see types of elves are near the edge of the village. I make sure that they're the highest level (Elven Lancers; red shorts on) and use them to help me kill the Wyverns. It's a good way to get some nice stuff, early in the game!

Blood Titans in Eeofol are easy if you're using flight. Just dodge their every attack. The Titans' Fortress is another story, however...

Rock blast and toxic cloud work pretty well.

Yeap, as well as Paralysis. But at least you're not invincible in the dungeons...

Yea, that actually does help because of interesting hit detection. You can touch the enemy, but he can't touch you. You can also use hitscan spells on them, like Implosion.
