News  → Might and Magic Teaser...

There's a small teaser for an announcement related to Might and Magic on the brand's official Facebook page. It's basically only a poster with a Haven (?) town and the words "A new era begins...", and a very short Flash video becomes available if you "Like" the page (a Facebook account is required). I will let you speculate on the meaning...

Edit: The video can also be viewed from here, without registration.

It would be awfully hard to imagine for company that creates action/rpg type games (arx fatalis, DMoMM) to create turn based strategy.

People, Heroes 6 will NOT be developed by Arkane (the developers of Dark Messiah). They've been acquired by Zenimax/Bethesda.

Also, how about a Heroes 6 section on the forum? :D

I think summon army spell was quite good thing that substituted hero less armies as reinforcement method and removed need for army chaining that was necessary in Hmm3. As for mills, I think flaging them makes them too much like mines thus they lose their purpose.

One of the biggest features in Heroes IV that I miss was the chance of locations like the Windmill and Watermill to auto-collection, assuming you had clear route to a town. This meant your heroes could be used for other purposes than gathering weekly resources and took out a lot of the micromanagement. Plus, the ability to send creatures out without a hero was useful for reinforcement purposes too. These features, helped make Heroes IV more enjoyable, but made it a totally different game from Heroes III, and I had hoped Heroes V would combine the best of the two rather than just reverting to the old Heroes III formula. If I wanted a kingdom management game, I'd play Civilization instead (some good Heroes mods for Civilization as well).

I didnt like Heroes IV rellay muc hint the series but I think tehre was good thins in it too. Hero fight in combat was bad abónd the moving of the creatures no upradge was bad too. But there was caravan, Statistics of the players, and such more sdkills and variety of leveling.

I made a short "analysis" of the picture here.

My main conclusion is that heroes will not be in combat in Heroes IV style.

To Andrews
I hope that none of whot you have wrote will hapen.
To much ressorce is bad..
Mixing elves and Humans is bad.
and I dislike most of the features from H-4...

So I hope for a Game that fixes the few bugs the HoMaM V had...

Can't help my self but the Image looks worse than HoMaM V. The textures look better but the fealing is more like Etherlords...
Andrews at 2010-08-16 08:49 wrote:

OH there is the new logo of the game Might and Magic : Heroes VI

With the artwork of necro liches may be ?

I heard that the developers of Dark Messiah do it. That was a good game on pc.

I am sure about that resources if will be more than this 3-4 type this is only a dem or beta so... I think they can add a new resource as well, IRON. For dwarfs it could work well.

And I think that this is an Alliance race on the screenhot, elfs and men are together from story too and this is a Haven or Elven Alliance town/race. At Heroes V end Unicorn symbol was on the Men/Haven race too.

I wonder there is another places are for example : Underground or in the sky?

I Hope for the GOOD Heroes IV things will come back. Caravan at the main game too and better and longer leveling like in HOMM IV with more skills and each skill have 5 level I hope. The statistic system of the heroes , armies, towns of the players. ETC.

I hoped also for implementing the Weather system to the combat and to the map. It would effects the combat tactics/gameplay for example: Wet damn for flyers or archers they damage halves. Snow good for dwarfs but the otehr races creatures slowed down. etc.

Upradge creature system

Oh and I hope fgor more upradges for some lower level creature for example: Peasant, - Squire (HOMM IV) - Armsmen. Creature can got xp-s too may be?

That screenshot looks too much like H5 for my liking. Has Nival been employed to ruin the game more or has another company been given the chance to try and improve it?

I think its just an early mode of the game an alpha or pre beta version.

And is it just me or does that screen look more KB then Ubi HoMM...

And why are there so few resources?
Andrews at 2010-08-15 21:56 wrote:

Its Heroes VI now is obvious. This is the first screenshot from the game.
Elfs are back sure. And Jungle terrain i know it and hope it. It is never used in Heroes series from 1-5 I think. You can see that it is the HOMM V engine with upradges for example sharpness textures and lightnings and fine shadows of the palms.Sorry for my english I am from Hungary.

So it really is Heroes VI. Interesting....Though my interest in the HoMM series have gone from following Heroes V development zealously to "Ok, I'll check it out :|"

Galactic Demons? Plasma gunner Elven? Sounds like MMight and Magic 7 to Me.:-D

Like if there weren't 4-5 console MaM Games already (QftDBS, Wariors, Dark messiah Clash of heroes...)

Yeah, because strategy games do so well on consoles... (and they already have games for handhelds).

well, here is my guess:
1. Developer's t-shirt describing the development of Heroes VI that was hardly 1 year ago
2. web based heroes game has totally different art style, this angel in the trailer is totally a Heroes V style
3. Dragon angel's newsletter: Ashan is absolutely something about continuity of the old Heroes V game

So most likely, the next heroes game.

as for "new era" crap, hopefully it is not Heroes 5k with Space Knights, Plasma gunner Elven and Galactic Demons.

Well, Ubi did state that the Heroes of Might and Magic line would just be called might and Magic from now on, but I'm pretty sure it refers to the HoMM Online Game coming out of beta.

huh, talk about dumbing down.

lets face it guys, Might and Magic is dead, all it will stand for now and in the future is endless Heroes copies and WoW wannabe MMO's.

its up to you modders and "indie devs" now, the fate of the name rests on you now, do not fail us.

Ofc everyone wants new RPG, but it can just as well be promo for Kingdooms thats is in beta stage for a while and should be out soon.

Deadguy118 at 2010-08-12 19:50 wrote:
It's going to be Heroes VI. Really, what else could it be? We all know that Ubisoft would never make a real first person M&M RPG (because it's unprofitable), and it's obviously not a Clash of Heroes style game. However, I am sure that whatever it is, people will complain.

As far as I know this teaser could mean anything... It could even be that they have nothing to announce and they throw this teaser just to make some noise.

By the way, I thougt that the only thing teasers did was to talk about what product they are referencing. But now it's not even that. It's like if they put a teaser in the Star Wars page. Certainly, there is always a new film or a new game or book in the works. But what exactly?

And I agree that is this if HOMM, there has been enough of "New eras" yet.

Just a note, Ubisoft puts all the related games under the "Might and Magic" brand, so that name doesn't apply to the RPGs anymore. That's why it's Might and Magic Heroes V on the box. And Might and Magic Clash of Heroes, Might and Magic Dark Messiah and so on.
O_RenyRen at 2010-08-12 13:26 wrote:
If you go to the US M&M tab and click on Heroes V, it takes you right back to the teaser page whereas the other two links take you to their facebook page. It's either a sign that they haven't got an FB for HoMM, or the two are related.

Finally, now i can complain about something people will respond to... i was almost ready to give up and go to Age of Heroes to torture them with the old H5 complaints.

Kingdoms has been playable in North America for a couple of days now, the timing would be a little off for this teaser.

Also, notice the Heroes copyright at the bottom. :)

But no newsletter for me. :(

To add more information: Ubi Newsletter arrived today:

"La nueva guerra de Ashan comenzará en 7 dias"... or,
"The new war of Ashan starts in 7 days", if you translate it.

Either announcement of Heroes 6 is next week, or Heroes Kingdoms takes a step forward... I'd bet for the second one, to be safe, but who knows.

I think it means that UbiSoft is going to launch an "Ashan 2.0", bringing us a new Heroes game and a new role-playing game set in this world -- at least one of them being an MMO.
