News  → Nival about upcoming patch 1.4

Nival representative «OldBoy», answered some questions on patch 1.4 (addon 2.0):

- Gating ability will be changed
- Planned changes to Training are moved to version 1.5 (2.1)
- Sylvan town has some fixed building prices
- Resurrection spell will not be changed. And never was planned to.
- Necropolis mage guild price will be fixed
- Dwarf faction (addon) is being added considering current game balance.

Ed: please note that this is an in-house translation, not some actual quotes.

well I can't wait to see what they do to gating!!!! Let me say that (while I don't know what changes are being considered) I have little faith in their "balancing" abilities and will most certainly hold off on patch 1.4!!

I believe I read a bug report: if you attack a gated stack on the initiative bar that hasn't arrived on the battle field yet it is destroyed.

It stands out from the rest because, like you said, theres nothing wrong with it

like DL said, maybe they mean spare your hero from endless turns of boredom?

IOW, put them out of their misery.

maybe just a little inside joke on Nival's part.

or i could just be projecting

But thats how it is supposed to be.The question is if you want to spare the hero the further torment of running around the shiny map :devious:

I wonder if they will be fixing the new bugs they introduced in 1.2. For example 'enought' and 'Skroll'. They might also finally get around to finishing the town descriptions. I got one today for Talonguard that just says 'Undefined'.

Aye, 33 is the number, i counted all patch files available on ubi servers...
Theres even czech and hungarian (etc.) versions of patches so thats why they add to such big number.

Well, so far (up to v1.3) we have 33 diferent patch versions that ubi offers on their support page...
It doesnt look imposible (since they will have double the number for ever patch after the expansion) that in the end there will be even more than 100 different patches...
Maybe they want to be a record holders for the guiness book of records :)

Also, dont forget that we have europian and american editions,as well as downloadable edition, and those three versions have separate patches.Furthermore, there have been limited, collectors and complete editions, which are all different. So,the final number of versions will be...?Taking all bets!

Angelspit at 2006-11-04 18:18 wrote:
And, later on, 3.0 will be related to 2.4 and 1.7... :)

"This doesn't mean patch 1.4 will only be available for those who buy the expansion?"

No, it means people with original version will get patch 1.4 which will be equivalent to 2.0 (just without addon content)

In future, those with vanilla game will upgrade to 1.5 while those with expansion will get its equivalent... v2.1

It uses securom, and I had no problems with it.

Kalah, of course not! Or how do you see it ? Nival have broken the necro guild, completely screwed balance - and after that, those ppl who want fixes should by add-on?
That would be too much even for UBIval.

I wouldnt be suprised too much with that, though it sounds more like EA to me

There are mods on this site that fix the Necropolis mage guild resource costs and the Resurrection & Raise Dead spells to remove the HP reduction penalty. I've been playing around with some of the files that control various game mechanics and it is pretty easy to fix a lot of stuff by just editing some values here and there.

That is not a salvation if you want to play online. Waiting for person that has exactly same mods installed(or one who would agree to install) - can hold on for pretty long time.

You know how "War dancer" is in russian version ? Its "that dances with death" And the "Wraith" is "Herald of Death"
Isnt it nice ?
Im sure "don't care" is not enough. Its something more.

BTW - For those ppl who have not seen the trailer by some reason: There will be NO wait button.

is the patch released seperately from the expansion? or is it included in the expansion, so you have to buy it to get patch 1.4? i hope its released seperately, or else it will be like we are paying for patch 1.4....

Yes it will be released separately. For those ppl who dont want to by add-on. Addon version is 2.0 it will include all changes from 1.4
Next patches will be 1.5 for standart and 2.1 for addon.

Sorry about that Mist. Didn't realize this was a translation by you.

Still, that said, this isn't the first time that they've released news about upcoming patches and they say the stupidest things that sound like a child speaking.

My favorite of all time was when they said in the patch release info "Some other things are fixed."
I swear to you, that was said. How is that professional?

MistWeaver at 2006-11-03 21:14 wrote:

Nice run-on sentence. No wonder we can't get simple things like "enought" fixed with this poor grammar. I don't want to hear again how they are Russian and don't speak English well either. It's called being professional and if they are going to make a product for different languages, they should have someone there who can speak these languages properly.

Actualy this is my sentence, not Nival's This whole stuff is not some kind of official press-release. Its just my translation of OldBoy's post on nival russian H5-forum.

And this is not complete 1.4 change list. Just few things that were asked by community.

What, there is so little being fixed that they have to tell us what isn't being fixed now?

- Sylvan town has some fixed building prices
Care to elaborate or are you too busy messing something else up again that previously worked?

- Resurrection spell will not be changed. And never was planned to.

See above for Sylvan.

DL, they are not rebalancing dwarves because of the public. They just said that dwarves will be balanced as a response to opinion that they will be not.

Bah,public is clueless.Public oppinion was also that HV is going to be a hit and DM would suck. They should listen to me,or the rebalancing might turn out to be same as elemental chains (over)simplification.

No. There is "add-on" in the bracers.

>I don`t get the part with the dwarves - what does that mean?
That means that Nival is going to make this faction balanced. This one takes roots from public opinion that dwarves are going to be too overpowered.

Good to know that dwarves will take into account the other factions and balance. But that could also mean that it will be as bad as academy currently is...Hard to guess with these guys.
