It's not the actual term; don't get technical. It's the meaning. Where did you see a grammar lesson? Either way, if I was referring to the structure, it would have make it a syntax issue.
Even the structure wasn't like that. What I said was "There's nothing wrong about it, it should've been done differently" not "There's nothing wrong with it except the stuff that is wrong" like tt implied.

That said I don't feel like I need to defend my posts in terms of grammar so I'd like this topic to be about the screenshot.

yes
Saying "NOTHING wrong" and "except for" in the same sentence makes no sense. Especially when the "except for" part is made up of more than one points.

Well i do agree that the idea behind it isn't bad, they just got the numbers wrong, leading too some units being way to slow compared to others... haste and slow just exacerbated that even more.

yes exactly

There was nothing wrong with the system, nival should've used a little bit more carefully though. Especially considering how easy it was to get mass haste/slow or both.

ThunderTitan at 2011-02-22 12:14 wrote:

I heard that units now act once per turn, with initiative determining the order.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean you won't have some units with too low or too high init... and the 2nd part was just making sure people understood what was wrong with H5's system.

I just hope they don't do a repeat og H5's init values that meant some units never got to move enough to count.

Bigger init stats mean you can differentiate better between creatures while keeping them in the same relative init tier, so i'm not against it...

Or maybe it's how beneficial offensive spells cast on him are? Or, if it also applies to Special Abilities, maybe abilities can be improved through Hero stats that affect Magic Power? That would be pretty cool.

We already know it's Might Power, Might Defense, Magic Power and Magic Defense, right? Look at the Marksman image I linked below.

That does correspond to the image you've linked.. but WTF? What kind of "magic" attack does the marksman posses?!

As for might power, that does sound strange. Probably distinguishing it from magic power, but I don't see the need for the word power.

Might Attack and Magic Attack were considered, but it sounds stupid to use the term Magic Attack as an indicator for the strength of passive or healing skills and spells.

I really like the simple look of the screen! But why so wordy? "Relic Artifact" and "Might "power"?

Previously you had to know if an artifact was treasure/minor/major/relic class. I don't think it helps or hurts to have the quality listed in-game. It may help a lot for the first time you see a given artifact, particularly if they do unusual things.

As for might power, that does sound strange. Probably distinguishing it from magic power, but I don't see the need for the word power.
One possibility: there is something like "might power" = damage bonus in previous HoMM terms, and "might skill" = attack bonus. This would follow the HMMK idea of some artifacts/spells doing a numerical increase in the unit strength, and others doing a percent increase.

+18 might not really be that big - the last time we saw creature stats, the Marksman was 19 Attack, 33 Defense:

Also, man does the crop of this screenshot suck - all the awesome info is in the corners of the original - World Map UI, quick buttons to what looks like Adventure Map spells, and what seems to be the DRM connect-to-internet button (though, if optimistic, it could be 'connect to an online game'):

Yeah, huge differences in initiative is one of the things that could have been improved.

Pity they didn't stick with the HoMM V initiative system and improve it - I never could quite tell where a creature would land after being slowed or hasted, for example. But ah well, better going back to the HoMM IV system than that of previous games where speed and initiative were one and the same.

Elvin at 2011-02-21 13:41 wrote:
Yep you could say it's back to H4 kind of speed/initiative.

Still being translated, i guess. But +18 is rather huge.

I don't think there is a translation to English. Most game assets have been originally written in English and they have writers to proofread errors, then that is translated to French, German, etc.
H5 strongly suggested otherwise, I know.

And three cheers for this ancient, rusty brain bucket. :hoo:

There have been a few changes in stat values since H2, wouldn't be the first time. Remember when 1 attack meant +10% damage? :)

So is +5 initiative, even for a relic artifact. They must have upped all the stats.
