Dark Messiah Performance Test

Unread postby Angelspit » 27 Sep 2006, 01:50

FiringSquad performed a very thorough <a href="/http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/dar ... erformance test with the Dark Messiah demo</a>, using the leading graphic cards on the market. The GeForce 7950 GX2 provided the best results, but at $500 it isn't an option many of us can afford. The Radeon X1950 XTX was a definite winner in the $400-$499 range, just like cheaper ATI cards outperformed their nVidia counterparts. But nVidia remains the best choice if you are going the multi-GPU way. The authors warn us that performance can change once the final game ships. However, if you were planning to buy a new rig to play Dark Messiah, you probably won't find better advices.

I don't suppose they say how the GeForce 6600 GT handled it?

Hey, as long as it can run it then it's ok, at least that's my philosophy.

Dark Messiah Performance Test

I have a decent performance in the open beta, but things were a little more rough in the demo. But I don't really mind decreasing the quality settings as long as the game is fun.

Same here - the beta runs with no lag while the demo lags somewhat. I have Radeon X1600X card (256 MB) and it feels like a mid-end card for Dark Messiah (because of performance). Curious that I bought it as a high-end for Oblivion which was released 6 months ago.

Well I, for one, cannot justify upgrading just to play the game, so I am guessing Heroes V will be the last game I'll be able to play for some years to come. Good thing I love Heroes 3 and 4, too. :P

That's why I love to play games that are two or three years old: you have a good looking game that you can play at very high settings without having to rely on high-end hardware.

I have a GeForce 7600 GT … with a 3.0 GHz Pentium, 1.5 GB of RAM & 155 GB of Free Space on my Hard Drive. If this isn't good enough then UbiSoft can just "cram" it!

I will start thinking of upgradin my nVidia Geforce FX 5600XT only if Dark Messiah and Gothic 3 would be unplayable with lowest settings. I doesn't seem like I will be playing anything untill summer though.
