Yeah, i'm sure they used their own salaries to fund the party, they couldn't have used company money, could they... :devious:

Gossip: A Party in the Dungeon

Unread postby Belmarduk » 04 Jun 2006, 17:14

In terms of company expense, hiring a bunch of strippers is like a drop in the bucket. It probably cost them a few hundred bucks to hire those ladies. Maybe a couple of grand between concessions and the rental of the venue. As opposed to the game development, which probably cost many millions of dollars, and the developers spent tens of thousands of manhours to piece the thing together. I think they're entitled to spend a little bit of the change left over and have a party. Even an incomplete, broken game's employees deserve a little rest at the end.

PS: The rushed release wasn't THEIR fault. Blame their publisher, heebs. Oh, yeah, and all of you idiots who signed that petition demanding that it not be delayed. Forgetting the prime rule of games - it's better for a game to come out late, then to come out on time and be unfinished! It's as much your fault as anyone else's!

Last I heard, the petition was for delaying the game, not against it...

I think there might have been a counter-petition. There were some people that reacted rather violently to the petition.

Most comparnies have entertainment funds and what not set aside for this sort of thing. (Although in the states, usually it's spent on Pizza or a nice restaurant - not strip joints). This certainly did not detract from the game budget - you all are just being reactionary.

ThunderTitan; ...We're still only talking about, AT MOST, a couple of thousand dollars. Total. For the venue, food, and strippers. Let's say they had a HUNDRED of these little private functions during the course of development. You do realize, that 200,000 dollars is still essentially meaningless with a game of Heroes V's scope and scale, right?

The rendering hardware they used alone probably cost in upwards of a million dollars.

Oh, and those couple of hundred $ could have been used to hire a spellchecker.

Sure 200,000 can be spent only on voice acting,a map editor and bug fixes, nothing more.So lets just blow them away as useles.
