New Mod: Old School Treants

Unread postby Angelspit » 31 May 2006, 14:14

We all knew a Treant mod would appear somewhere, sooner or later. Fortunately, judging from screenshots and comments from users, the job is done, and done quite well. Kudos to xManiaCCCx for the mod, and to sfidanza for his assistance with the installation. The mod page also includes theGryphon's mod which changes the creature number descriptions.

How long before we get to see a Vampire "Blah" mod? I have already seen several requests for that in the forums.

If you would like to take a look at the original page visit this link:

Yeah these do look better, but i think they're to bulk for trees. Still better than those things.

Ye i agree with thundertitan, the new treants are better. The old ones look more like dungeon creatures than sylvan.

The new Treants remind me of insects more than trees. Actually, they remind even-more-so of the Krees/Stygian Knights from the Serious Sam series.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

Kinda short for a treant, aren't you?

Just kidding... I like the look better then the "Insectoid" look of the original H5 treants.

Now we just need a Gargoyle mod with a new model (instead of a rehashed imp).

Too bad it's been copied from the everquest expansion "prophecy of ro", it had been a good opportunity to make a choice available between two different treant units otherwise...

Yep, it doesn't get any better than H3 dendroids. Why mess with a good thing??

Some months ago, claiming that half the units in H5 was copies from Warhammer. Most of it was rather superficial, but the treants were very close...

And I agree that H3's Dendroids were better than either of the two.

Yeah, but I wanted to change a bit. Warhammer here, warhammer there... The upgraded version is really similar to the one in everquest and the base version is about identical to the one from warhammer.

GREAT!! I'll be using these immediately!

Am I the only one with a feeling that Ubi will make it impossible to use that Treant...? *Thinks of Warhammer copyrights*

As long as the old Treant isn't playable with the retail game, they are safe. Preventing fans from applying the mod would be a bit rude.
