7th Race/Faction?

Unread postby asandir » 17 May 2006, 05:05

Anyone who has the game ....

Notice on the map that there are 7 named cities?? One is clearly Sylvan - Syris Thalla, one clearly Demonic - Tor Myrdal; one clearly Academy - Al Safir; one clearly Necro - Nar Ankar and a clearly Haven one called Talonguard .... there are also two which are not so obvious, to me at least, one called Karthal, and the other Stonehelm - neither is obviously dungeon, but I suspect one is (unless its underground and there are two unaffiliated cities??)

Stonehelm looks kinda fortress-style ... Karthal looks almost like it's floating in the clouds .... elementals anyone? neutral perhaps??

any thoughts anyone?

Stonehelm sounds Dwarven.

it does ... but it doesn't really look like what i would associate with dwarves, but then am i an expert on dwarves ... not really

certainly that's one possibility

but it leaves Karthal to Dungeon, and it REALLY doesn't looks dungeon-y, although i did earlier state the possibility of dungeon not being on the map if they are undergroud ... derr

In the LOTR appendix, Thorin III Stonehelm was Dain's successor as the King of Erebor.

They talk about dwarves in the Haven campaign as a faction, so my money goes there.

People, you should definitely have a better look onto that map, specifically NORTH. Or how come you missed GRIMHEIM? :)

ahhhh jolly ..... Grimheim is an area, not a city - Tor Myrdal (what i reckon is the inferno) is IN Grimheim

just like Nar Ankar (necro) is in Heresh

interesting info linky, will check that out when i get home and get the sucker installed

People, the BIG letters, are the Realms: IROLLAN (Sylvan), and so on. The cities are the capitol: Syris Thalla is the capitol of the Elfen Realm of IROLLAN. The Demons come via Portals from another plain entirely. So there are two realms unaccounted for:
GRIMHEIM (Tor Myrdal) and
RANAAR (Stonehelm)
plus a free city or city state. I don't think, it's very difficult to see what factions will be in those realms, especially when considering how the capitols of those two realms look.

No. The Inferno has no Stronghold in Ashan.

At least not when one has read all of the story ;)

Thanks to Jerrie (a.k.a. Labyrinth) for the scan.

I think I'll post it as the next POTD or something.

That's a picture, not a scan. It would be nice if someone could actualy scan it at hi-res. But the pic looks good enough.

So we have:
- Irollan (Wood Elves)
- Ygg Chall (Dark Elves)
- Holy Griffin Empire (Humans)
- Heresh (Necromancers)
- The Silver Cities (Mages)
- Ranaar (?)
- Grimheim (?)

I'm guessing the Demons don't have a country. So that leaves 2 countries unaccounted for.

EDIT:
Yup, Inferno ain't there:
- Sheogh (Demons)

That Ranaar. And Sheogh is probably deep underground.

The coastline of that continent looks extremely peculiar... Is there a geographer out there who could give us some theories? ;|

Grimheim might be dwarven country, since its the mountanious region, and ranaar could be barbarians/orcs.Probably orcish barbarians

Agreed DL. Dwarves must have a region w/ mountains!

The problem with that is that the Orc fled to some islands. They could be the Air worshiping humans. Free Cities of the East. Makes the most sense.

Mmm, but who live in those? because having 2 human factions might be a bit too much (even worse than dark elves and elves...)
Grah!
