MMX Voting #4
The Open Dev Blog continues and so does the voting for features in the MMX dungeon. This time, the devs want to hear about what kind of enemies you want:
Option A: Elemental A (Fire, Water, Earth)
Option B: Elemental B (Air, Light, Darkness)
Option C: Non-Elemental (Undead, Orc, Brigands)

Well to explain with other tags. The Open Dev Blog continues and so does the voting for features in the MMX dungeon. This time, the devs want to hear about what kind of enemies you want:
1) Corporeal ellementals which logically could be harmed by weapons.
2) More exotic ellementals which probably would be more spirit like.
3) Sick of elelentals, give us something normal.
Why undead , demons, and some other exotic stuff is not on list is beyond me though.

Undeads are on the list.
In War: Resolution, In Defeat: Defiance, In Victory: Magnanimity, In Peace: Goodwill.

I am just guessing here but -- I wonder if, for instance, B won. Would we then be asked to vote for Air, Light, OR Dark? As someone posted there – it would be much easier to decide on what to vote for if we had a better picture of where this is all going.

There are no Demons in MMXL. I'm very proud that it is the first Ashan-based 100% Demon-free Might & Magic game

Random Priest of Holy Empire: Orcs have demonblood on their veins, thus Orcs are demons! Burn them!Marzhin wrote:There are no Demons in MMXL. I'm very proud that it is the first Ashan-based 100% Demon-free Might & Magic game

Why? Just curious as Demons have been in several MMs and I personally have no problem with them being in or out.Marzhin wrote:There are no Demons in MMXL. I'm very proud that it is the first Ashan-based 100% Demon-free Might & Magic game

They were overused in Ashan. Each conflict, each eclipse in Ashan - all factions unite against demons, no matter how they treat each other in "peace" times.
HOMM5-6 - 2nd and 6th Eclipse - demons are main vilians.
Clash of Heroes - again demons but this time with crazy demon cultist instead of real demon lord/demon sovereign.
Dark Messiah - again you are trying to stop breaking walls of demons prison but fortunately this time there are nearly no demons in game and you fight Orcs and undead.
Now with Danse Macabre, Duel of Champions, 50 Shades of Purple and Heroes Online instead demons we have Sandro and his Order of the Void. But again this all Order become new demons - its everywhere, behind every plot.
It start to become annoying and boring - it's like Archibald would be behind all conflict in NWC games. You an use a plot device one, two times but not all the time. Pirates of the Savege Sea were good because there was local story with local villian, not another "save world against demons/Sandro" plot.

@jeff: there are two reasons. First, as Avonu said, Demons were overused. The second reason is that MMXL takes place ten years after the end of the Second Eclipse, and Demons are not supposed to be able to leave Sheogh so long after Eclipses. We could always cook a plot about some rogue warlock summoning Demons with his own power, but we chose not to go that route and instead give the Demons a break for this game

"It's like Archibald would be behind all conflict in NWC games".
Even if by that you mean MM games after Xeen, Archibald appeared in a grand total of 3 games out of the 13 games NWC produced between 1995 and 2002. And even though he appeared in MM6, he had nothing to do with the conflict. Hence it's actually two games.

I think you're misunderstanding. Avonu obviously meant that it wouldn't be interesting if Archibald was behind all conflicts in NWC games, not that it was the case.hellegennes wrote:"It's like Archibald would be behind all conflict in NWC games".

On another note, not to be too nit-picking, but even though Archibald wasn't really that much involved in the conflict in MM6 per se, he's still played a very crucial role. It was practically thanks to him that the heroes were able to save the world from the Kreegan
Make you strong places to dwell and practice the evil of your arts. Build great monuments to stand through the ages and remind your followers of the task with which you have been charged. Use these halls of iniquity to perpetrate your schemes against the infestation that has taken the fields and lakes of this land from you, their rightful masters. Never forget the hatred that must finally overcome and consume mankind. Dwell in your dungeons and brood. - Sheltem the Dark

True, but his role was positive in that instance.
