What was your first reaction to the Azure dragons
I underestimated them, I had 12 non upgraded angels and I was like "hah! Only a few! Let's kill em!" And I got my a** whoped :(

I had actually overestimated them. The campaign had been building to this super amazing dragon, so I had absolute overkill. Other than the fear effect, the fairy dragons were a lot more annoying because of how many came in a group.

The most astonishing about them dragons are their price. First time I met them perhaps in one of standard map Back for Revenge.

After taking their lair, wanted to get some of them, but the price... ? Oh well.. 8|

They really don't fit well in standard maps due to the cost, but even getting 4 of them in a large/XL custom map helps immensely.

With WoG and succubus-type commander, guess u'r recruiting problem can be solved rather smoothly.

But without WoG, one might be inclined to speculate on the next contenders. I mean, won't it be more economical to spend the fund on a crystal dragon + fairy dragon ?

I have never seen a Azure dragon dwelling, If so they would cost more then the Draco Liches (WoG) They have 800 health and cost 15000 with 15 mercury, A azure dragon has 1000 health

Superdragon hive looks nice, but does not make much sense.

First glimpse with azure dragons was overwhelming just because it was back in 2002 when i had my first laptop PC (even though i have played Heroes 2 back in 1998) and everything was so "over the top". Upgrading a hydra pond was like an event bigger than some birthday of a family member.
Heroes franchise was not about the free actions of Heroes or monsters, it was not about 3D of shiny graphics either, it was about diversity and balance, simplicity of gameplay and realistic picture, strategy in it's purest form. That's why Heroes 3 will be the greatest game of all, because only Heroes 3 has all those qualities together, no matter which one you personally like more. This statement is unquestionable, uncriticized and undeniable .

If you want to play with super Dragons, try Clash of Dragons random map template :)

Actually, I think the first Heroes game I've played was Heroes Chronicles: The Clash of Dragons. That game also got me pretty hooked to H3 overall, mostly because of its very immersive plot and relatable characters. And yeah, that was the first time I saw Azures. These things are overkill, 'nuff said.
