Unread postby Kalah » 03 Oct 2011, 11:08

<img src="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/images ... 6_logo.png" align=right hspace=10 vspace=10>The developers have confirmed that <i>Might and Magic: Heroes VI</i> has reached Gold status.

For those of you who don't recall exactly what Gold is - it means that all the programming and development is completed and the information is sent to the actual disc manufacturers.

From this point on, the game will be made, packed and shipped to local stores. It will be available for purchase next week.

Didn't realize the game was so close to release. I'm still in a middle-of-August mood. :(

Now is the time to bug them for two new factions, but they'll probably only release one per expansion.

Isn't this a little strange that between information about gold version and release date is so little time? I just hope it won't influence on HVI release.

I can d/l a game in under an hour, if they can't press a bunch of disk in a week and a half and ship them out at least locally they need to hire someone whose distribution system is from this millennium.

Does anyone know the distribution plan for those who pre-odered? Will we be getting disks or a download invite? If a download, seems we could have access even sooner.

Also, has anyone heard anything on map making and a map editor? I've read all sorts of UBI posts on game longevity but have missed that which has been the key to longevity in prior releases. I imagine it's a pain to construct a useful interface (HOMM V never got there) but prior releases were very good.

Ubisoft Poland and on of our game sites organize contest for creating a map for HVI with map editor which will be included in-game. I think it is the closest thing to official info as far as I know.
And it seems that HVI map editor will be easly in use (quote from same source).

For those of us who pre-ordered, I hope we get an e-mail about how to get this. I had one when I first ordered, but I mistakenly deleted it.

As for the map editor, so much for us getting it before the game came out like they hinted at. I just hope it's better than that garbage we had for H5 which totally messed with all the maps if you changed something in the internal settings.

@crees0921: if you preordered one of the physical editions, you'll get it in your mail. If you preordered one of the digital editions, in all likelihood you'll receive an e-mail with the download link. In any case if you connect to the Ubishop with the account you used to preorder you'll see the download link in your "orders" page (only once the game is released of course). The same as any other game out there, really ;)

@Avonu and KingImp: the Map Editor will be released with the game, as we said several times. Unfortunately we couldn't release the editor before the game, but we did warn it was going to be complicated in my last Q&A here. At least the Editor is included with the base game contrary to H5 :)

Gold status seems mighty fast considering the beta only closed last week. However I hope you all post on the game as I am on the sidelines until a campaign editor is released.

You could always just use the map editor, jeff, to gain some training before the campaign editor is released? ;)

I would happily do that if UBI would commit to the campaign editor, but Black Hole has been evasive whenever the topic has been mentioned.

Well, that is of course typical of Ubisoft's comm policy: say nothing until it is 100%.

Now, it's correct. ;)
And it's not only Ubisoft policy, unfortunately. :(

That's good news! I hope a lot of fools buy the game early. That way, they can work out the bugs and I'll buy it when it has 5-6 patches and costs $20 or less.

...uhh, I know that nobody here is foolish. :proud: ;|
