Elemental Dragon: Sylanna

Unread postby Kalah » 07 Aug 2011, 09:04

Sylanna, the Dragon of Earth and patron-deity of the Elves. Worshipped by druids, rangers, hunters, farmers and herders, she is peaceful and cautious compared to her volatile siblings.

I liked all the other dragons. This has something I dislike but I cannot quite place it.

It's a spirit of a dragon, like from anime. There seen more, than anywhere else.

Ok two more to go, unless....they include all of Urgash's dragons too...I am sure they won't do that though would they?

To be honest none of the dragon drawings have impressed me; they all seemed plain with to little detail. However once cleaned up and placed in the game, they could be very nice indeed. ;|

They all look like pokemons to me. Maybe they shouldn't have gone with the whole dragon gods thing. There are only so many ways you can draw a dragon.

I didn't like this one very much; looks more like a sketch. I'd rather see this one without a tail, and perhaps 4 hind legs - with no shiny nails. Dunno, something just doesn't look nice there.

@jeff:

What are you talking about? They are as detailed as a dragon can be. What are they missing?

@vicheron:

Clearly you haven't seen a lot of fantasy art; or haven't read ancient mythology. In Greek mythology there can be as plain as snakes and as complicated as a hydra. Two legs, four legs, six legs, one head, multiple heads, winged or not, scaly or not, feathered, tailless, horned, etc.

There are tons of variations in even when you are just changing the wings. Just as there were too many variations of dinosaurs, the bones of which were probably the inspiration for dragons.

I just don't care for the style it appears dull, more anime (I do like some anime) than traditional. I do not have a higher standard, just a different one. If you read my post you saw I said once properly animated in the game they could be nice. Now these are just my opinions like them or hate them they are mine. Others can differ it really is no big deal as these drawings will not effect my buy decision.

(edit) It occurred to me several of you did not understand me, I said drawings. The drawings looked to me like blurred watercolors. The dragons themselves and their appearance once improved for the game may very well be nice.
