Some of you may also recognize her features from the earlier leak.

Snow Maidens are major Water Spirits linked to the frozen aspect of Water (ice and snow). They have lived with the Naga for centuries in harmony atop their mountain retreats. The Yuki-Onna is the upgraded Snow Maiden.

I wonder what ideas these ladies are based on. They look Asian-influenced to me.

Japanese. So many things are Japanese in the Sanctuary.

Wanizame means "ferocious shark".

Mizu-kami means "water spirit".

Yuki-onna means "snow woman".

Kenshi means "swordsman", Kensei means "master swordsman".

Kirin (the word itself) is also from Japanese.

So it's basically a Japanese faction and I don't like it. Don't get me wrong, I love Japanese culture and I know a fair bit of Japanese, BUT having creature names directly from Japanese is a very bad move. This is especially considering that HOMM is very popular in China and I don't think the Chinese people are going to like seeing Japanese words all over the place. It feels like shooting oneself from the foot.

You would've absolutely hated some of the earlier Sanctuary names, then :)

OK I have a question: How are they going to translate this game into Japanese? I mean for example, the only logical translation of "Snow Maiden" in Japanese is "Yuki-onna". But wait, that's the name of the upgrade already. Ridiculous, I tell you... :disagree:

I wouldn't be surprised if the names are changed before the game is released (happened alot with both Heroes V and Clash of Heroes).

I have to admit, some of the female characters in this game look good :). But the best IMO is still the priest girl from haven.

I don't see why you guys get so riled up about these names. I remember it being stated these names are only placeholders and subject to change anyway.

I'm trying to make sure "subject to change" will convert to "#1 in to-do list".

BTW, Kirin is by no means anything new to the series: it was one of the monsters in the original Might and Magic Book One: Secret of the Inner Sanctum ;)
Make you strong places to dwell and practice the evil of your arts. Build great monuments to stand through the ages and remind your followers of the task with which you have been charged. Use these halls of iniquity to perpetrate your schemes against the infestation that has taken the fields and lakes of this land from you, their rightful masters. Never forget the hatred that must finally overcome and consume mankind. Dwell in your dungeons and brood. - Sheltem the Dark
