Stronghold Revealed
Stronghold Revealed

The German Ubi site has publicized the fourth faction of Might & Magic: Heroes VI, and as many fans were expecting, it's the Stronghold. Among the creatures of the fort include Orcs, Goblins, Cyclops and a few other legendary creatures.

My German is a but rusty, but there are creature descriptions of three of the faction's core units:

The Orc Warrior is described as a typical melee fighter, lightly protected, but well-armed. The shield may work as an extra defence against ranged attacks.

The Harpy were originally servants of wizards, winning their independence and joining the Stronghold later on. I loved the "strike-and-return" ability in Heroes IV - this winged creature also seems very light on its feet, so perhaps we could hope for something of the same here?

The Goblin seems like a flimsy, fragile unit, but they are quick, and obviously ranged (see the boomerang?). The description also speaks of some kind of "trap" ability - though I might be getting that translation wrong.

I love these things. Glad to see Stronghold back in good old form. What do you think?

Stronghold Revealed
Probably all factions will be present, since there will be expansion packs.

wow, this is actually unexpected... i was sure they'd have elves... and i guess this is the jungle terrain town, innit. So Faceless in Dungeon then. If that it they really need to stop doing this "new race in Dungeon is a new faction" thing.
They had that in another heroes game too... maybe you remember it, it had a 3 at the end.''I loved the "strike-and-return" ability in Heroes IV""

Cane anyone explein this to me? or am I just missing something out here becose I'm not a H4 fan?parcaleste wrote:Good news is - Harpies are back (even though a bit in some sort of a parrot reincarnation) and the other creatures design looks better than the HV one.

I don't understand the behemoth obsession either. And it has nothing to do with HoMM IV, but HoMM III, where the most vocal whiners are at home.Dave_Jame wrote:Can someone please explain this Behomoth obsesion? It did look a lot better in H3 then 4, that's true:Dave_Jame wrote: ::The unite had a good ability, but it was just a harry ape.::
But a big hairy ape is currently missing from Ubi's HoMM, so why not fill that slot... especially since they already did the Cyclops in 5 already.

Maybe my thinking is just old fashioned, but the way I see it, the final faction has to be good natured. You have the Inferno and Necro as evil-based and Haven as good. One could only assume that this Stronghold is the neutral faction, so they need one more "good" faction to round it out.

Ashan Necro could fit the neutral bill pretty easy... being about balance and all. So it could just be Haven good and Inferno bad, while the otehrs are neutral.

I really like the colors on the harpies. They make the harpies look more like they belong.
Well, I still could bring up the Yetti that was going to by in H5HoFThunderTitan wrote: It did look a lot better in H3 then 4, that's true:

Dave Jame: I can explain the behemoth obsession: it was a top level unit that wasn't a dragon! Gasp!

Not sure how many of you played Final Fantasy XIII, but these Harpies look a lot like the Daemons (Incubus/Succubus, Skata'ne/Stikini, Yaksha/Yakshini, Rakshasa).

Harpies? Really? All I see is winged women with tall feet. Harpies look nothing like that, in the original concept.
Stronghold Revealed
I love this, really was not expecting it, but love it! It is sad to say though because my two favorite factions are mages and elves, but this is great and hopefully they'll show up in an expansion. I am really happy their moving more towards the theme towns of classic HOMM, vs the race towns. There are just too many mythological creatures that have to be left out because of each town having 4 elf units, or 4 orc units, thats just boring...

And so do "putting boobs on our winged women to make it more artistic" medieval artists.
