But shining units are doing bad on my eyes! :D

There's no reason to having every unit special, no need for shining faction as well. Please make the units more like from this world, simpler. Let is strong idea behind them - not the the blazing aura.

Wow, their heads are half the size of their palms. I guess they don't do much thinking.

I think the problem with the Heroes VI "knight" faction in general is that by being more "magical", it -- quite ironically -- becomes less special. In the previous Heroes games, this faction alway stood out for being rather mundane.

Agreed JSE. Just look at the evolution from Heroes 2, for example, where every single one of their units is a footsoldier, to now, where every single one of their units is high on LSD.

When you think about it, everything in Haven is gold-shifted, everything in Necropolis is Radioactive Green-shifted, everything in Inferno is on fire etc.

Hmm- so the remaining ones are a magic faction that is blue-shifted, and a shrouded faction that is black-shifted (shrouded could be evil or underground or secret- don't read anything into that)

Why not just have the knight ride a gryphon?

Yup, and in M&M:H VII the Knights will ride the Angels. In VIII I believe it will just be a mass orgy... perhaps lesbian one.

@vicheron:

Probably because it will reduce the griffin to a hoss and it will have no sense for it to be a unit on its own, much like there are no horses fighting (well, except for unicorns and the like but these never had riders).

@hellegennes

All they need to do is introduce a new creature to replace gryphons. There are more than enough creatures in mythology that they could use. They had no problem using bears and velociraptors as mounts in Heroes 5. Besides, Heroes 3 and M&M7 already talked about gryphon riders.

Also, there may not have been a unit that rides unicorns but sorceress/druid/sylvan heroes have been shown to ride unicorns. However, unicorn riders just wouldn't look as cool as gryphon riders.

I don't disagree, I am just trying to reason why developers would thing it wouldn't be such a good idea since griffins are kinda iconic in M&M universe. IIRC, though, you are right, since Catherine Ironfist is seen riding one in H3. However she is a queen, isn't she? I am quite sure also that MM7 had not griffin riders.

Why have a griffin rider, when you can have a griffin and a knight instead? :D

Also, there is no such thing as "gryphon". At least not in the UK English dictionary.
