Who else hates the Inferno?

Unread postby Metathron » 24 Nov 2010, 20:26

And wants to see it get the boot from the HoMM universe? Or, at most, be there as neutrals?

I'd settle for an inferno with lots of diverse creatures, for example a human knight who sold his soul to the devil, rather than having three very similar looking units whose role probably overlaps (one of the core ones and two elite ones); Also would be happy if they got over that damn eye sore of a color scheme - everything is on fire, and/or is charred when upgraded. Jesus.

Yeah, yeah, I know it's too late for HoMM VI, but wanted to vent my frustration all the same.

So you want Inferno scrapped or you want the current Inferno scrapped? The first will make me very hostile towards whoever does it, the second I can agree with, even though what we have now looks marginally better than the HoMM V Inferno (mainly the new models of the Succubus and the Pit Fiend are face savers).
Regarding the actual functions of each creature however, we can only speculate for now.

2-headed Cerberus FTL.

Meh, no faction so far feels like Heroes to me... but then again H5 did that first.

Yeah, the new H5 inferno units were not very appealing; except for the succubus.

Somewhere in the big ass topic on HC :P He said that the Cerberus was 3-headed, but that he was only 99% sure that the Hellhound was 3-headed :D

I guess if you hate Inferno, that's because you're disappointed with it, because you were hoping for something more, because in reality - you love it ... :creative:

Me, I don't really care much about Inferno, so my dislike never really reaches the point of hate.

I don't hate Inferno, but I do hate the overused "devilish red theme" and the apparent lack of creativity. We really need less red and more creative demons.

Just look at these H4 creatures; they're far from perfect, but at least you can see they tried to make them as varied as possible:

H4 death looks like a bunch of units thrown together with the only connection they are 'evil'.

I wasn't talking about the whole Death faction itself; notice that I only posted the infernal creatures of the Death faction here, not the undead - mixing Demons and the Undead wasn't the greatest idea, I know.

Besides, even if they don't seem to have a strong connection with each other, I think it's still WAY better than the H5/H6 approach, which is "If it's red, it's a demon! If it's glowing green, it's undead!". :disagree:

I for one kind of like the demon faction, but even so I think they need a brake from being the main enemy. By constently using the demon faction constently they become more mundane and less scary. Let someone else be the antagonist for a while.

I'd rather not have a demon faction at all. Stuff isn't as scary anymore when you can play them yourself. They should have made a few 'standard' demon units and maybe a few bosses. Enough to be the bad guy during the campaign and to provide neutrals.

Personally the Inferno can burn IMO, I'd go for a faction loaded with Echidnaean creatures every time, provided they had one say, low-level 'cultist' from which heroes (ie, high-level cultists) could be pulled.

I don't understand why someone wouldn't want a self-destructive faction that spreads chaos all over the battlefield
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Because I was never much taken by the whole 'great good/ultimate evil' thing.

I couldn't agree more. It's so tacky, come on developers/artists, show some subtlety.
