HOMM VI Collector's Edition?

Unread postby Blocks100 » 16 Sep 2010, 12:02

So, what would you want in it? I'd go for....

Unique mounts - skeletal horse for Necro hero is a must!

A proper manual showing units stats etc (although this should be in the standard edition, we won't even get this as all Ubisoft games come with the 'manual' on the disc....)

Cloth Map (goes without saying really)

Unique Artifact Set e.g. Statue of Legion

Unique neutral creature e.g Mummy

Any other ideas? Hero trails of HOMM VI were a bit underwhelming really....

Ubi lately have tendency to give away in game items for collector editions, like Splinter Cell Spas 12, but I think it is bad style to do so since it encourages people to get illegal versions just to get full game, since often there is little possibility to get collectors ed, for example for localized versions.
I think as out of game things they could add some art book, ost disc(perhaps with tracks that didnt made in game).

Map, Units and town buildings trees (like in H1-4), paper MANUAL (not that sheet like in HV or DM), art book, maybe a hero or unit statuette.
No DLC stuff or in-game bonuses - if you buy CE you probably want something real what you can put on your shelf, not virtual things which you can download from net sooner or later.
Soundtrack is not important for me but I think many players would like to have it too.

I don't like special in-game content in collector editions. Doesn't make sense to me.

Special looks or special trails are fine, but I highly doubt they'll make special units or artifacts as there would be too many issues for online games

A proper manual and a well-made high-quality map. Anything else is just a waste in my book.

CE with in-game stuff is such a rip-off... means they don't spend anything making it a CE instead of a regular copy... but an in-game aura showing you have the CE isn't such a bad ideas as long as it's in addition to the physical stuff (at least a manual, art book, cloth map, soundtrack and a figurine or medallion or something like that).

I think the best CE bonus would be the game without any intrusive DRM. And proper manual as has already been said. No, a few pages of instalation instructions in a few languages isn't a proper manual by a long shot.
And Ubi should actually make some useful manual, not let the community do the dirty work for their lazy arses.

A proper manual should come with the regular version of the game... even if only on .pdf's.

A cloth map and something like a badge/medal, figurine or other RL displayable object is the least they can include.

What I meant and I believe Kalah as well was a proper printed manual. The regular version must have at least the pdf file. Cloth maps, a printed chart showing creature characteristics should be in the collectors edition. A figurine would be nice, I have the the titan from MM6.

And more importantly give little incentive for the manufacturer to add in anything that makes it special.

Imo its really lame they offer in game extras as CE content That just encourages people to pirate so they can get actually full game, or use shortcuts like modding to get missing items at best.
