Certainly!

The distribution is:
2d3: 2(1/9), 3(2/9), 4(3/9), 5(2/9), 6(1/9)
5d2: 5(1/32), 6(5/32), 7(10/32), 8(10/32), 9(5/32), 10(1/32)

I'm sure that is (2D3): you can use dices two times with amount 1-3 of any dicing. I.e you are right. It seens yours 5D2 (righly: from 2 to 10) is wrong. Or I mistaked?

There are the rolls with almost unlimited sides - how to you is weapon "Poseidon Trident" (Mod TCC to MM6) 10D10+20 or such items? It's really only game developers fantasy...

Many a true word is spoken in jest.
1d2 is just a coin.
1d4 is a triangle pyramid.
1d6 is a cube.
1d8 is a octahedron.
1d12 is dodecahedron.
1d20 is icosahedron.

All other dice are artifitial.

"xDy" is "x - x*y". But note that the game directly simulates dice rolls, calling "rand" x times. This makes things less random. For example, for 10d10 = 10 - 100 most of time the damage would be pretty close to 55.

Yeah. If you would rand 100 times it would be like 30-70. Maybe 3DO did it on purpose to get a more avarage damage.

Is this also true for spell damage? Because in spells it is always written as 1-6 instead of 1d6. Following this logic, it would seem that 1-6 means there's an equal chance of doing 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 damage. Instead of doing mostly 3 or 4 damage.
You'd think Darkmoor was a ghost town, but instead there's plenty of life among the dead.

Not sure, actually, any X - Y value can be only converted to XdY/X I think. But monsters all attack in the XdY style.

The spells are used in form of <skill>Dy + z, where y is 6 if it's "1 - 6 per point of skill".
Interesting thing is additional weapon damage. Most of it is calculated in a single dice roll (6-15 Cold is 1d10 + 5 for example), but Fire damage is not. 1-6 is done in a single dice roll, but 2-12 is done in 2 (2d6) and 3-18 is done in 3 rolls (3d6).

... which means that a fire damage bonus should do more damage on average than an equal other type of bonus? And I already thought fire enchantments were overpowered in comparison to the others.. :o

Nope, all enchantments have the same average damage, except poison. It means that Fire is as predictable as others. So, it only matters how many Fire/Water/Air resistant monsters there are. I don't think Fire wins. Sure, I don't consider the 10-20 enchantment - it's a special one.
