Heroes 5 Win 7 patch?

Unread postby Variol » 04 Dec 2009, 12:37

I just install the Win 7 upgrade last night. Now, H5 crashes frequently. It never crashed with Vista at all. Is there a Win 7 patch? Or, should I try a whole new install?

Isn't there some sort of XP compatibility mode you can try in Win 7?

From what I have heard, you only get the ability to download an XP compatibility module for 7 if you have one of the two top-level versions of 7 (Ultimate and the one below that, but not home or home premium).

I just got Win7 and after installing HOMM tote along with the 3.01 patch, have had no problems... Didn't have to use the compatability mode either.. So there might be your answer, Just back up your maps folder, uninstall it, (try to leave the profiles & save games intact, and do the install... Dunno how the earlier versions of Homm5 will work..
I THINK SO THEREFORE I AM

That is true, but I believe that is mostly for productivity programs like Office, there is a compatibility mode, just rigt click on the exe file and go to properties tab and the compatibility mode then is just like Vista.

I have not had a problem again and I have made no changes. Maybe it was the custom map I was playing.

Does anyone know where to buy the 2 expansions at the best price?

It also seems like after I play H5 my language settings on the keyboard change. They go to Canadian French. Has anyone else encountered this?

don't buy the 2 expansions, just buy tribes of the east, it's a stand alone

So, hammers of fate is junk, or are they both in TotE?

like I said tote is a stand alone, you get all the units/towns that are in h5 and HoF, the only thing missing is the campaigns, but you can download those as a mod

I went onto the amazon.ca website yesterday and ordered TotE. $10 + $5 shipping was pretty fair.

If ind there are not many of the new races that I like; even though they're mostly the same.

tote is a lot better then just h5, the 2nd row of upgrades give every race a different way to play

I'm just noticing that I can launch the game without having the disc in the drive. Is this a feature of Win 7?

I run win 7 for over 2 months, using Toe 3.1.
The only problem i have is visual. When the "details" are set to "very high", after entering a town or something it will "blur" the whole scene.
In any other setting, everything is fine.I'm currently running it on "High".

Funny huh? :)
