New? You wanted to say new-old class because it was in Diablo 1 already (in Hellfire expansion). ;P

Hellfire was a fan based add on right?

Wiki is your friend: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diablo:_Hellfire

It was made by Sierra, so it was official, but probably not canon... thus no corrupted monk in Diablo 2 (like Blood Raven or The Summoner).

Nope. It was an authorized add-on developed by a third-party company. So it's something less than an official first-party expansion pack, but more than just a fan based mod/add-on.

P.S. TT beat me to it.

The monk class looks interesting. There is a good bit of video on this fan site. I suspect Blizzard will drag out announcing the final class, which I am sure will be a ranged character of some sort.

I'm wondering when the new Diablo 2 patch is going to be released.

Yes, new patch for Diablo 2 will come out, but it was delayed by discovering (and fixing, ofc) one big bug in Warcraft 3 custom maps.

The new Diablo 2 patch is supposed to add a biger stash, add skill respecs (which I won't use) and fix some bugs. Hopefully the inferno and arctic blast bugs will be fixed. Speculation is it will nerf a couple of things (like blessed hammer and enigma) and add a new boss mayber (to drop the respec for instance.)

No more skill trees in the game.

I think it is good thing, even if it pushes release date even further.

Probably won't be pushing anything anywhere... they've been tinkering with the skill system since the start, and had only recently returned to skill trees (from tiers req X points in the previous tiers).

Seems that the new idea is that the skills are no longer split in 3 different trees so builds won't stick to one kind of dmg source etc.

I see what you did there.

But seriously, there's a lot to be fixed in Diablo 2, IMO. There are so many weak skills in this game and some of the "useful" ones among them end up being 1-point skills at best.

I mean, who the hell spends 20 points on Increased Stamina? No one would even bother with it, if it wasn't the prerequisite of Increased Speed. What's funny is, Increased Speed isn't worth 20 points either. Then there's Grim Ward, a LEVEL 24 skill, LMAO. I remember testing it once (when I first bought the game), and I think it was also the last time I used it, I don't remember ever getting this skill after that. Oh yeah, and Leap has got to be one of the most hilarious skills ever! And Find Potion may be a useful feature on paper, but as a skill, it's just terrible. There's also some "powerful" skills, like Battle Command, that people would never spend more than 1 point on them.

But what about the Energy stat? Even Sorceresses don't spend points on Energy anymore, unless they are building a Mana Shield Sorceress. Maybe Energy should give you faster cast rate or something like that. That would make it more useful (I think).

That wasn't mine, just something i ran into.

And yeah, energy was always underwhelming... really needed to affect more stuff (but cast rate is too much). Maybe spell dmg in some small way.

And useless skills have been a plague on many a game since forever... hopefully they do manage to tackle that in D3.

I like Diablo 1's atmosphere and graphics, the game looks really good given its resolution (640x480!), but in the end, I prefer Diablo 2's more streamlined & less tedious gameplay better.
