Duke Nukem Forever and Ever

Unread postby Deadguy118 » 06 Jun 2008, 05:36

Wow, Only took them 12 years to make actual gameplay footage

The segment starts about 2 minutes into the show.
Doom Clone?
Back from the dead? Maybe.

2026, well, kidding, when it's gonna come, i think about 2010 really. They work SO freaking slow, so that's how i feel about it. Yet i also think that it's gonna let people down, people will think that a new messiah of games is standing up (cause of the every year hype), but really it's just a basic shooter...

But that was from a time where it was "olmost done" meanwhile, they sat down, drank some beer and got wasted every day. It's just a shame that it's taking so long. You are right though about the gameplay footage, but it's not up to date by a LONG SHOT. So don't be a smartass TT...

Doom Clone?
*DUMDUMDUM*

Doom clone...

If you havent noticed, every FPS are some kind of DOOM clone... or to be precise Wolfenstein 3D. If Unreal have been one of the very first FPS, well then they have all been Unreal clones. Capiche'? :)

Hmmm: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8037688.stm
Publisher Take-Two says it will no longer fund development of the game but retains rights to the title.

They should never have come clean with the truth, but let the myth live on... forever. Sad.

I smell something catchy is going on instead: http://gamingisstupid.com/2009/05/06/th ... y-revival/

Got linked to that one couple times until I noticed date.

Of course I may be wrong....

EDIT: More I think/"research" about this, more this looks like a genuine attempt at hype and advertising.

Well, its finally over. Now we can finally forget that this game ever existed, much like what we did with Starcraft: Ghost three years ago.

And Talin, while your cynicism certainly is coming from a good place, no sane developer would even dare to touch this game because of how much of a joke Duke Nukem Forever eventually became, and with all the wild expectations saddled upon it, it would be a PR nightmare.

That could swing both ways: if they knew their business and pulled off a decent game within a sane time frame (with liberal development blogs etc to show that they were for real), the sales would be massive because of it's infamy.

cynism flows in rivers when you get older and all that you loved as a kid is beaten down with clubs and dragged in the dirt. (Ultima, Might & Magic and Commodore for ex.) ;)
