Here's the latest update. It's in Russian, but I believe it says the game is almost finished but the developers and publishers have not reached the agreement when to release it... So it might be pushed back again, although I guess Q2 is still possible.

There might not be multiplayer till expansions if I got it right?

Oh well. At least they're already working on the add-ons.

Did these people decide to go to sleep and think the game would magically finish itself?

Seriously, what the hell is taking so long? It's "only" been worked on for over 4 years now. ;|

Well .dat wasn't the first to develop it, and then i recall that they had a few false starts...

Also, the word is that the game is more or less finished, and they're having problems with actually releasing it...

I don't know, I think I'm starting to lose interest in this. The units themselves look great (as always), but the combat map, especially the terrain looks a bit "bland" to me, to be honest. The overall look of the adventure map isn't too bad either (much better than H5, mind), but I have this feeling that I'll miss Disciples II more after this. I just hope the gameplay is really worth it.

Yeah, it's way too close to the HoMM battlefield for my tastes too... Disciples should have a more chess like one...

Yea, but H5 came out 3.5 years ago. IMO, D3 should be compared with the upcoming H6.

It might seem dull because it's so laggy. I'm not really impressed either tbh, the battle looked more like a H5 battle (initiative bar, creatures can move).

No, it shouldn't be compared at all. If there is one game to compare with D3, it's Disciples II, and only Disciples II.

I made the comment above, because I think there are similarities between D3 and H5. Just like H5 having similarities with Warhammer and WarCraft III. And these games aren't in the same league, either, let alone release dates.

If you're talking about graphics maybe... but that's the most shallow of comparisons.

They're the same genre, so yeah, you can easily compare them... and WC3 is in the same overall category, strategy games, so you can compare them too, as long as you keep in mind the differences between real time and turn based.

Yes, I was thinking graphics-wise. My comparisons are indeed very shallow, because I think both Disciples and HoMM shouldn't be compared with each other as a whole. Sure, anyone can compare any game regardless of genre, but I believe both should remain as different as possible, like oranges and apples. They're both "fruits", but they taste and smell different.

When it first came out many people compared Disciples II with HOMM4 and most thought Disciples II was superior. We all know HoMM4 wasn't the best of releases, so given all the disappointment it ended up getting bashed even more. This was unfair, because Disciples II was clearly the more limited game (strategy-wise) when thought of objectively, but no one expected great from D2, thus D2 got away with harsh criticism.

Some stuff that can be and can be not in game:

New stuff and missing old stuff
- not battles on the ships!
- not creatures in the water!
- few neutral units
- not map editor (maybe in addons)
- not map generator (maybe in addons)
- not multiplayer! (only in addons)
- not diplomacy! (only in addons)
- maybe not single scenarious!
Another game with will be playable only as Gold Edition?
