H3: Best unupgraded level 7 unit (firebird excluded)

Unread postby UndeadHalfOrc » 22 Mar 2009, 04:34

Pound for pound, Which one do you think is the best? (Conflux excluded because of their oddball nature)

I believe red dragons are the best unupgraded level7 . I would take them with me ANY DAY over normal Angels, Devils and Green Dragons, not to mention the pathetic Giants, Bone Dragons, regular Behemoths and Hydras.

They might not beat the angels/devils in a straight up duel, but they are much more useful with their breath attack and immunity to these (edit) five major spells: Blind, Slow, Curse, Lightning Bolt, and Ice Bolt.

No need to wait for Blackies - recruit those red drakes , they can last you a good while :)

Only downside is the level 2 mage guild reqs, and strict build order.

That's a mistake, that one Green Dragon is from me but it should be Red. Srry.

Well, no biggie, they are practically the same unit anyway, and it's effectively the case when on Grasslands.

Red Dragon ftw.
If Giants have 200 hp, that might be different, with cheap building(comparing with reds), but still I would choose dragons.

Voted Angel.

Long live the citizens of Fair Feather! :)

Reds.

Though I was tempted to go with Devils for their no-retaliation ability.

Angels by far. Huge stats and constantly high damage output. Bone Dragons are the worst.

All those threads about the best...

There is no best. It all depends of the given situation.

If we suppose you are the first week on a new map and get a devil, let's face it, check for any slow zounds/hordes and you get like 10 levels in one day.

If you attack a creature bank, nothing is better than a hydra.

There are no best, but some are worse than others if not upgraded, as the giants and the bones dragons. But there are other bonuses in tower and necropolis to compete with the lack of weak unupgraded 7 level units.

I see a lot of people like dragons. Well, try a MP game against a good opponent and you will see them fail as flies. They are not so good because you can't boost or heal them. No shield, no prayer, no haste, no ressurect.

The game is perfect.

Medusa's and Cyclops' banks say hello.

Can't slow/curse/blind/bolt them either.

Green and Red dragons can be resurrected.

I agree with Salamandre. And even if it was a 'best' creature, you still can't choose what to recruit in your cities. ;)
Failure is not an option -- it comes bundled with Windows.
