Tomb Raider: Underworld

Unread postby Milla aka. the Slayer » 21 Oct 2008, 15:38

Does anybody here play Tomb Raider? And if so, could you possibly be as excited as I am for the new release??! :oex:

As fans of the series might remember, TR: Legend left us with a lot of questions that needed answers and it seems we'll get some in TR: Underworld. Would be especially cool to find out what happened to her mother when she pulled the sword from the stone. Sooner or later we have to know!
Anyhow, here's a trailer:

The thing that bugs me about this trailer is what Zip does that forces Lara to point her guns at him :?? It's so exciting, I can't wait to find out!!

Well, she gets a Hamer of Thr or something. Maybe that's it. I bought Tomb Raider Legend a few weeks ago. PLays nice, once in a long time we got a good TR. Maybe I'll give this one a try too...

Yeah, she needs to get the "hammah" (:P). Legend is the best one imo. And the many many different locations make for much more varied gameplay. You're in for a treat there ;)
As for the new game, if you don't want to spend money unnecessary, I'll let you know how good it is when I get it :D

Please do that Milla. Haven't played TR:L that much, haven't even passed the first stage :P. But I liked some stuff a lot, like the looks are great, controls work nice, sound and stuff also great, and Lara looks hot again :)! Reason for me to buy it is that Crystal Dynamics made it, they are also responsible for Soul Reaver, that is my favourite action adventure game. Didn't cost me much either, only €2 :D!

Wooow, that's cheap 8| Complementary gift? :D
If you like the looks, you should definitely keep playing. Bolivia is only the beginning. My favs are Ghana and Nepal - beautiful artwork!
Have you played any TR before? Sounds like you did ;)

Well yes I did. But only the first 2, after that they just f*cked up. Didn't do anything new and just kept EA'ing, every year a new one, at the cost of quality. But now it's all good again :)! I must admit that I never finished one...

I liked a lot the very first Tomb Raider back in 1996 or 97, but the following games were not that good (I think Angel of Darkness is the worst game ever or a close candidate ^^).

Recently I bought Tomb Raider Anniversary on the Wii and found it very cool, it manages to improve the gameplay while staying true to the original game's unique (and somewhat creepy) atmosphere. So I may try to find Legend someday and if I like it, I'll give Underworld a try ;)

@darkness: How come you've never finished a TR game? :)
I've read a lot about how the semi-old TR-games are just plain rubbish but didn't actually believe it until I got my hands on Angel of Darkness! OMG, it's probably the worst game I've ever played. The controls were unbelievably inaccurate and the lack of an "autosave" mode was unexcusable :disagree: Damn girl kept dying on me.

@Marzhin: Anniversary is definitely a cool game. I too really liked the eery feeling throughout the game. The feeling of being all alone all the time was creepy and the ambient soundtracks did a wonderful job in accompanying that feeling. Especially in the folly I was constantly creeped out...
Legend doesn't have the same eery feeling as Anniversary as you're accompanied by Zip and Alistair on the headset most of the time. Also, you run into a lot of people and not just animals in Legend.
However, this is still my fav of the two as it has a much more interesting plot and you visit a lot more different countries throughout the game :)

I never finished one because, euhm, I dunno :D. Well i gues mainly is that some things are So unclear to me, like in the first one, it's just trail and error all the time. Tried stuff loads of times, but for some reason I cannot seem to figure things out :$...

Yeah, thanks :). But I will try Legend soon and finish it myself, I like the feeling when you finished a game without walkthroughs, makes you feel like the man :P!
