Seen any good movies lately?
Just watched Azumi recently on TV. Well my impression was: it was cool. Acting was good. Plot wasn't that bad, but not brilliant, heck it doesn't matter that much in this one, you have fights almost everywhere. The movement of characters is so perfectly done, it doesn't even look like it's fake (or was it actually done in reality??). The movie brings sometimes some moral questions, but I personally preferred the fight scenes. Kinda cool seeing Aya Ueta slash through an entire town and army (at the end of the movie)
I also watched the sequel the next day. Although it wasn't as good as the first one (in my opinion) you still have a lot of fights, but the camera angles are a bit different (possibly because of a different director?), it has less fights though. There's also a crazy strong guy (villain) with a two-bladed sword shaped like a boomerang, and he actually throws it and it does return back (after slashing two ninjas). Although I was disappointed that Kozue (Chiaki Kuriyama) betrayed them and killed Nagara (the one who survived in the first movie, along with Azumi). It feels like everyone is dying at the end.
Now I know there are possible critics out there, but remember: before you'll say it has too much gore, too many killings and too many fights, or a bad plot, well what do you expect? This is not a drama, it's an action movie... even more a samurai/martial arts and ninja movie so it hits very well that genre which it belongs!
I know, I know. I'm too hard on critics. But let's face it: 75% of them are just annoying and completely off the point. Unfortunately i do not have the ability to educate them as to how a movie SHOULD be rated. Not all have the same genre!

All humans do is to go to a place, bountiful of nature, and live there. Then the human multiplies and sucks all the wonders there. They move to the next. There is one thing that works the same way as that: a virus.
I eventually watched the shining, great movie Nicholson was just the type to develop psychotic tendencies and eventually go nuts in a murderous frenzy. He is really unsettling, his facial expressions, his voice, everything feels natural. Apparently there are some differences from the novel as the movie is less refined but I only know superficially from wiki There were some great scenes and tension, you don't even know what the heck is going on or what is real. Here's Johnny!
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Well, these days I went watching Mummy 3 (puked on, almost - it was like watching a Kaleidoscope of bizzare figures all over the movie, which I could barely remember how the movie started, and could never remember it was once a sequel from the other movies, which were rather funny and ejoyable. The worst movie I've watched these last years, surely).
Watched Batman and I agree with that Joker = Great. When he was not, the movie was rather boring. The worst of it was that it was too long. I think it could end when Two-Faces was born. He was even cool. And they could make Batman less...strange-talking, it seemed he would throw up at any moment.
Then I rewatched some other movies: Fight Club and Bicentennial Man. I had forgotten how I enjoyed Fight Club. Bicentennial Man fulfils my like as all robot-thinking-sort of movies do.

Yep, I have to agree about Bale's "Batman-voice". It's somewhere between lame and annoying... can't quite put my finger on it. :p

Watched "Charlie Wilson's War" yesterday. It was everything I expected (i.e. brilliant), although I hated the fact that there was a 4-minute unskippable AIDS fundraiser commercial on the DVD. I bought this thing, I shouldn't have to watch commercials of any kind.

Yes, this thing has really gotten out of hand. At the movies it's bad enough to sit through many previews, now they also have television commercials before the previews. You could show up 20 minutes late and still not be late for the actual movie.Kalah wrote:although I hated the fact that there was a 4-minute unskippable AIDS fundraiser commercial on the DVD.
That's why I burn copies of all my DVDs and remove all that crap.Kalah wrote:Watched "Charlie Wilson's War" yesterday. Where do you guys get your DVDs from? I have like tons of them, and don't remember any with unskippable stuff (except a few with some an anti-piracy ad in the very beginning... that's why I turn on the sound on my amplifier like 30 secs after I insert my DVD :p)Corribus wrote:That's why I burn copies of all my DVDs and remove all that crap.Kalah wrote:Watched "Charlie Wilson's War" yesterday. As for the movie ('wonder if I didn't already comment on it already here), it's indeed brilliant. Didn't exactly know what I was gonna get when I went to the cinema, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Saw Extended LotR on one of the giant LCD TV's... pretty nifty... they still killed Saruman at the wrong time though... and there still wasn't enough Frodo is "shellshocked" at the end...
