King´s Bounty English Demo

Unread postby Angelspit » 16 Sep 2008, 01:09

A demo of King's Bounty: The Legend has been released on the <a href="/http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=3870">1C Company forum</a>:

<i>"The demo includes the first city in the game, all three character types, multiple quests and dozens of spells. Developed by faithful fans of the original King’s Bounty, King’s Bounty: The Legend continues the remarkable traditions of the legendary role-playing adventure. The game will be published by 1C Company and distributed in the United States by Atari and Nobilis in Europe. US release is planned on September, 23."</i>

Do yourself a favor and avoid the FTP site of the company -- head to <a href="/http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php ... 9">Gamer's Hell instead</a>. Or post reliable mirrors here.

Wow. I'm really impressed the game so far. I like the skeletons that reach for you when you pass them in a wall. :-) It runs kinda slowly on my computer for some reason, though, which is odd considering Heroes V runs perfectly (unless I'm playing a giant map) while it seems less graphically intense than Heroes.

Maybe the programmers were worse than Nival 8|

Well, i installed it and checked it only on the graphics way, and i think it looks really nice, cartoony, but mature. Tonight i will play troughout the demo and see how the battle stuff works out, and my final thought about the demo :).

I tried it. As far as I can tell you can't pan the camera and I find it limiting. I wanna see where I'm going, what's ahead, where I've been but it seems I'm limited to just the hero. Very very dissapointing

It doesn't work for me. It installs, it starts up, but it crashes right when I enter the game world, after the story cinematic.

Recommended system requirements from the official site:

• Processor Pentium IV 3000 MHz or analogous AMD
• RAM 1Gb
• Videocard Nvidia GF7800 with 256Mb or analogous by ATI

Who on earth still measure processor speed in Megahertz?

King´s Bounty English Demo

Unread postby Ya5MieL » 16 Sep 2008, 22:52

Another great day in Heroes/KB fan diary. The game (at least judging by the demo i finished) is everything i hoped for. In the essence game is a lot simpler than heroes, and doesn't try to prove otherwise. From the menu screen ahead, it seems creators wanted to create exactly the Kings Bounty game, based on hero and its journey without making it look more expensive than it really is.

Three classes at start seem to be good choice, 4th class in original was unnecessary imho because they were too similar. So here we have might, magic and hybrid classes instead of having might, magic, hybrid and hybrid between might and previous hybrid :).

Some mechanics like spell cool-downs are great innovations and i think that should be used in heroes too. No more spamming of same spell.

Addition of rage makes hero act twice per round, and basically gets to cast 2 spells, one from rage schools, and one from magic schools. Didn't test this yet but it makes me wonder will warrior be OP since he has largest armies and can cast pretty damaging spells as well.

Someone mentioned camera pan. It can be considered a minus but in a game centered around hero that has well detailed map screen i think it doesn't make much problems to a player.

Uh, i see i wrote too many lines for my taste so I'm gonna break it.

play the game, its excellent singe player counterpart to heroes, but do not expect to find a "new heroes" game since the game does not try to be that. Now only awaiting full version.
