Well, the purple beat is fully up, and you can see it under this text:

And the fully identified picture of the splash map is also done. The eyes now seem to be from a lich king...:

Those are NOT the lich king eyes.. apart from the blue glow, the armor/face topology above does not resemble the helm of the lich king at all.

Certainly not. It would be stupid to make such a mistery out of a game that's allready been announced.

Well, it would be VERY crappy if they all of a sudden do this for The Wrath of the Lich King. They are going to announce a NEW game, so if this is their way of making us happy, and show up with a dead bird, people will get pissed!

http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/

Looks good. :) And it is nice to have it finally announced! So far they have gameplay movies for the barbarian and witch doctor up. I wonder if the witch doctor is replacing the necromancer.

There is also some Q&A at http://www.diabloii.net/

Edit: http://www.diablofans.com/ mentions rogue as a third class.
Frodo: "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."
Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

Yes finally they've lifted the curtains. Good they opted to show D3.

I am certain the WD will replace the necro.. curses and re-animating, along with zombie walls.. yeah you can pretty much say bye bye necro.

They do mention a rogue, but in fact it's just 2 barbs and 2 wds of different genders.

Just got back from the WWI.
Diablo 3 did not impress me much. It seemed a bit too cliché. But, they have a long time ahead anyway.

OTOH starcraft 2 was not what I expected. It seemed just a better recoloring of the old starcraft. The game feeling hasn't improved much and even though starcraft was a great game I was expecting more.

I think they need the courage to remove or revamp more of the old units in favor of new better ones.

Well, they can't please everyone and I'm sure they've taken that into account. I myself am impressed and anxious to try out both.

Diablo is pretty cliche in concept, and I think they will do well to stick to improving and building upon the tried and true.

@darknessfood: Oh yeah!!! :grin:

I like how they've returned to the creepy atmosphere of the first Diablo. Diablo II was way too kiddish. :)

I'm a Paladin fan and all, but for the sake of online balance, they need to either:

A. Remove him
B. Revamp his skill list (particularly nerfing/removing Blessed Hammer)

So, what other D2 classes you guys think will make it to D3?

I think the Sorcerer/Sorceress is a given. All the other classes are up in the air at the moment.

There will be 5 classes, this has been stated several times. What we have now are
Primary Melee class, specializing in high-damage close range maneuvers and absorbing damage. The Barbarian is roughly the same as before.
Indirect spellcaster with summons, debuffs and some damaging spells. The Witch Doctor resembles the Necromancer, but seems to have a larger variety of damaging spells.

Yet unfulfilled roles:

Support character with buffs, heals and enemy debuffs. Since all classes need to be solo viable, this character probably also has combat skills. The Paladin filled this role in D2, and could do so still. No gender problems.

Ranged combat specialist. Ranged weapons are confirmed in the game, so it's only logical that there is a character that uses them. Likely to be similar to the Amazon, but all classes have both male and female versions, so the Amazon is probably out. Perhaps the Rogue or a revamped assassin.

Direct Spellcaster with a large arsenal of damage dealing spells, weak at early game, enormously powerful from mid to late game. The Sorcerer/Sorceress is the most likely choice.

I don't know whether they'll introduce some more radical classes, but that would be pretty awesome. Hell, make the Druid the new Direct Spellcaster, that'd be fun. The Druid's spells were concept-wise much cooler than the Sorceress's in D2.

:D They said there could happen unexpected things - perhaps scenarios will be damaged as well, break appart, etc.?

I take it you haven't seen the gameplay video... ;)

A lot of the objects in the first part of the video are destructible (I'm downloading it, because I couldn't clearly hear the narrator's voice when I tried streaming the video). :)

Also, the skeletons (?) scaling up the wall in the first minute to battle the Barbarian is one heck of a creepy touch.

I wonder just how destructible the areas will be though. :)

@Suleman: I see. 5 sounds like a good number, with perhaps 1 or 2 more for the expansion pack. :)

Agreed. Way too many of them had cooldown though...
