Whats your favorite skill?

Unread postby Corelanis » 17 Feb 2008, 22:04

Im just wondering what skills people like to use on their heroes and why they like them. I personally love retribution its in attack which I use on almost every hero and it gives an added benefit to high morale.

Retribution is great, I will most often have it on a Barbarian.

Diplomacy. A classic skill that may allow you to overpower your enemies through sheer numbers.

Warlock's Luck. Double damage is amazing.

Counterspell. Mostly for preventing the enemy to cast that god awful Divine Vengeance. :grumpy:

Triple Ballista

Imbue Ballista. Arguably the best perk there is.

Master of Mind. For those Mass Slows and Mass Confusions, so your creatures can attack at leisure. :-D

Stunning Blow. Great skill on your Barbarian hero, especially in combination with the Powerful Blow ability.

Soldier's Luck. For bringing out those great special abilities that just won't trigger enough on their own.

Mine would be secrets of destruction :) Creative ability and the knowledge with an extra spell is a great earlygame boost.

Other favourites are flaming arrows and warlock's luck, you can feel the power B-)
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Mark of the Wizard wins it for me, closely followed by Imbue Ballista. Both so much fun.

How could I forget MotW and Flaming Arrows?

Empathy is pretty good, but I find that the path leading up to it is often too compex which is why I usually don't envision it on my hero in the first place.

For barbarians and rangers (and to some extent, knights), Empathy and Swift Mind are easy to get. They don't require Enlightenment. If I play one of these characters, these are the abilities I always try to get. Abilities that allow your hero to act first and act frequently are just too useful to pass up.

Logistics - A must have!
Mentoring - Great mid to late game.
Master of Mind - Grants two of the best mass-spells in the game.

1)Master of Mind, for the already mentioned reasons.
2)Master of Abjuration, because creatures become so much more difficult to overcome, while an army's superiority in ranged damage is essentially cancelled.
3)Mark of the Wizzard, because you can do pretty much anything you want (especially in combination with Sorcery).

Mark of the necromancer is my favorite. Unlimited mana is pretty handy.
Btw, what's the opposite spell of confusion and mass confusion in the school of light magic. Divine Vengeance(or is meant to be the opposite of puppet master or frenzy?)

I mean like suffering is the opposite of righteous might while weakness is the opposite of divine strength.

Mark of the Wizard. Essential for a wizard. Let's you phantom image 2 stacks at once or lay down 2 mine fields at the same time.

Rune Lore. Rune magic is yummy.

Master of Mind: mass slow and mass confusion.
Frodo: "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."
Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

OK, it's not April 1st, so I must assume you're serious. How do you do these? I thought you can cast Phantom Forces only on friendly stacks and Mark of the Wizard only on enemy stacks, and you can't even target a stack with the Fire Trap spell.

MOW lets you target friendly or enemy stacks. So MOW your titans then cast phantom forces on your mages and you get phantom titans and mages. :) Phantom battle mages have the eldrich aura by the way.

Give the MOW + Fire trap a try, it works.

GOW
Frodo: "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."
