Well, i'm a soccer fan and i'm sure that any of the names should be familiar, but they just don't ring a bell to me. You can say that they are good, but it's still a common fact (sort of) that american soccer teams suck and they never make it far in a world tournament.

well I know Tim Howard, Kasey Keller, Brad Friedel, Brian McBride and Claudio Reyna, and most football fans I would have thought would have heard of them, having said that the US is hardly a great football nation :)

Although I agree that the American league has a long way to go before reaching European level, you can't say for certain that US teams are at a low level. You don't even know the players, let alone how skilled they are, and since American teams don't play European teams, there's no point of reference there either. As for the international team... well, I agree the U.S. aren't exactly Argentina, but as of November 2007, USA is ranked 19th in the world, ahead of countries like Nigeria, Russia, Cameroon and Norway.

it's an artificially inflated ranking K, they get thru to the world cup due purely to the number of places their conference has, and the competition is severely lacking, australia is ranked significantly lower than the US and yet we have performed better then them recently, look at nations like South Korea - ranked 42!!!! yet been in past 6 world cups and done pretty well

the fifa rankings are somewhat rigged

The rankings are floating; they're based on the recent results - which is why Norway was ranked 2nd in the 90s. If you take a look at the results of 2007, you'll see that USA beat Denmark and Mexico early this year, quite strong teams. They went on to beat several other teams before hitting the slump in summer after being thrashed by Argentina. They'll be playing Sweden again in January; I'd like to see if they can beat the Swedes :)

That was our Ligalandshold, not the real national team. Only players from the danish league was on that team, so the best players were absent.

Looks like Spurs will beat West Ham fairly hands-down. 2-0 with 10 minutes left to play, and the Hammers don't seem to have much to offer.

[EDIT: 3-0! :-D Gilberto makes up for his mistake in the previous match.]

[EDIT: 4-0 :oex: aaah, the sweet taste of victory...]

Good point. But at least he's got some offensive qualities; that opens up for a Bale/Gilberto combo on the left side next season if we can't get hold of a first-rate winger.

:applause: WHAT A MATCH!!! :-D

Tottenham - Chelsea 4-4, I would have killed to be present on the Lane for this. Coming back against our rivals, we might even have slain the lions at the end. :)
