Maps, maps, maps

Unread postby berntie » 31 Jul 2006, 15:50

Since the Heroes V standard edition comes with such an abundance of maps I'm trying to figure out what "additional" or "bonus" maps are available.

Here's what I know of:
  1. three maps in the Deluxe/Limited Edition
  2. two maps in the Complete Edition (according to that post)
  3. two maps in Patch 1.2
  4. two "e-mail maps"
Now, the e-mail maps seem to be nothing new (see elrath.com).

I'm wondering if the three other sets of maps are disjoint ...

Please pardon me for reviving this thread.

The maps are downloadable from www.heroesofmightandmagic.com. I downloaded the H5 single player scenarios, the ones that are supposed to be played under ToE. Then I tried to play "The Refugee" in ToE, and got very weird errors. The main hero, Nadir, has the (barbarian's) racial skill Blood Rage, not Necromancy, and his specialization is Avatar of Death. I don't mind the specialization (it's a great one to have), but the wrong racial skill makes this hero worthless. There aren't even any Stronghold town on the map to make use of this skill.

I tried opening the map with the Editor to see if I can fix this, but the Editor drops the subteranean level when it loads the map.

Basically, this scenario is unplayable for me. Does anyone have this problem? Can anyone help me fix this?

I'll just link to our H5 maps if I may; it seems we have almost a hundred of them :)
In War: Resolution, In Defeat: Defiance, In Victory: Magnanimity, In Peace: Goodwill.

Thanks, but I want to play this scenario from Ubisoft because it's, well, a scenario, with animated cut scenes and, presumably, a storyline, unlike all the maps made by regular players.

danvho are you using other maps...I think that error can be caused by using Vlaad's LOTR map. If you are just take it out of the folder.

I had no problem playing the scenario diplomat in TOE.

Huh, I just saw him/her having the same skill the day before, while using the Mentoring on him and received a skill to choose "Basic Necromancy" and then "Advanced Blood Rage" so I WAS LIKE wtf???

Thought it was because of the Return of the King map, someone mentioned that one could have familiar problem

Yeah, PhoenixReborn is right. Just remove my "The Return of the King" map from your Maps folder.

There's just one little problem. I had already deleted all other maps except "The Refugee" in the maps folder. But here's the weird thing: I can still start a "Return of the King" game. Where does the game find this map? Is there a cache somewhere that I have to clear?

Perhaps if you have some saves which are not deleted?

I had a similar problem with blood rage replacing necromancy, but I noticed two other changes as well. The dragon for Dungeon was given 3000 HP which made it next to impossible to kill as well as empowered fireball spellcasting with cost 20 sp for it to cast and the dragon had 60 sp. The other change I noticed was a death witch change for the 3rd tier for the stronghold. This creature functioned in a similar fashion to the necropolis' liche. I removed all of the maps I had downloaded and just started over. Glad to hear that it was LOTR that was causing it. Did anyone else run into the additional changes I mentioned?
