Heroes III VS Heroes IV

Unread postby george137 » 23 Feb 2006, 21:32

I'm not sure this topic has been done before or not but I just felt like seeing what other people think. I personally like them both equally even though it did take some time to warm up to Heroes IV

I'll take them both with H5 on the top please :D All games are pretty different with disadvantages and advantages in gameplay, creature names, spell names, skills, abilities, towns etc etc. We have to get used to it ;)

Vote H4

Nothing beats the Heroes in combat feature of homm4, except for the campaign from Homm2 :).

They are different, but I like them both alike.

Impossible for me to vote...

H4 is potentially the better game, but it all never quite came together. Lord
I love the skill system (aside from the issues surrounding the Combat
skill) and the magic system is almost as good. I dislike the endgame in
H3 where most heroes are indistinguishable from each other. Buuuut
there are too many little (and big!) bugs, which makes actually playing it
(against the AI at least) rather unenjoyable.

Hence I spend most of my time in H3, where at least the AI works and
there aren't very many balance-killing bugs.

I'm sure everyone knows where I stand.

Actually, the best game is Heroes :victory: ... but since that's not an option, I'll go with III.

Heroes 4 is the better game, though the AI has some dramatic failings. Anyone who has played A Wind of Thorns can tell you that.

I agree with Corribus. I'd like to vote for Heroes II, but since I can't, I'll go with H3.

H4. But for SP only in the hands of community mapmakers who are willing to put in some extra effort to fix the broken issues.

I think I’d vote for H2 as well if that were on the list. The game had style.

Definitely Heroes 4. IMHO, better in every aspect (except for AI), with only some details worse.
Cheers,

Wow! I didn't expect this result!

H4 for me.

I still think Ubi/Nival should have considered much more things from H4 for their H5.

Really? Are they going to include more H4 features and details??? Only time will tell, hope you have right Dalai ;)

But they really should have included a chaotic/choice upg sytem and caravans and....better not ripping up that discussion again :shh:

Stil even if they are not going to include more features from H4 and H2, there are several things in H5 that also are taken if not reminds of features from H4. Like some says the skill sytem are more familiar with the one in H4 than theo ne in H3, we have the wasp swarm spell, we have the nightmare, the sprites as level 1 once again as they were in H2 too. And some other things I cant remember right now. ;|
We may even get some kind of caravan, not like the one in H4 but one that are fitting for hero only armies and the dwelling system that are like the ones in H3.

H5 seems to be a mix of

H2 10%
H3 30%
H4 20%
H5 40%

Then place it in the owen at 200 degrees and wait for it to be finished may/june 06 :devious:

Well, half of that 40% "H5" is actually Warhammer. ;)

RT is sanctuary for poor h4 fans

agree all the way about your advice for ubi
if they dont like h4 so much, then they can let someone else develope game in that direction or we can hope some other company can create game using heroes 4 as starting point.

Heh - that's like saying Restaurant A's pizza is better than Restaurant B's in every aspect (except for the taste), with only some details worse.

I voted the same, because I would have voted for Two if it were on the list.

But in the meantime, both games had their strengths and weaknesses.

I think the hard work of many mapmakers has made the H4 game quite enjoyable.

Nucleon did buy h4, be He instantly hated it. He passed it to another dude, and has totally forgotten about it since.

Nucleon likes H3, a rather complete and customized H3 with AB, SoD and WoG. It is the perfect balance between H2's ambiance and H4's sophistication.

And if H5 comes with 3d schnitz and other eye-catching gimmicks instead of more strategic possibilities, He'll stick with H3.
