General Fighting Game Thread

Unread postby Suleman » 10 Jan 2008, 17:30

So, this is for fighting games in general, since there doesn't seem to be a thread for them yet.

First of all, Soul Calibur 4 will feature Darth Vader and Yoda as playable characters. THIS TIME WITH PROOF, ANGELSPIT (Can't close this one, can you?)
Darth Vader vs Ninja, Samurai and a whole lot of others. A geek dream come true.

Also, Chaos Breaker is a fighting game for Warhammer, Warcraft and Heroes enthusiasts. Why? Because the character roster is composed of 5 teams:
Undead Team: Vampire Lord, Lich, Death Knight
Orc Team: Orc Commander, Troll, Goblin
Human Team: Generic Warrior, Generic Amazon, Generic Barbarian
Elf Team: Archer, Sorceress, Elven Warrior
Dark Elf Team: Necromancer, Witch, Dark Elven Warrior (not Drizzt)
Dwarf Team: Dwarven Warrior, Dwarven Cannoneer, Dwarven Rifleman

Here's a match video:http://youtube.com/watch?v=gjEY20TRHXU
It's just a shame that it's only in the arcades. It seems rather awesome.

Tekken 6 is coming up, and so is SF4 and we're all excited about that, right? Tekken 6 doesn't seem to be that different from its predecessors while SF4 is purposefully taking a step back towards SSF2T. I've got mixed feelings about that.

Also, what are your favorite fighting games and characters, people?
"Yes, but what about David Beckham and the magic mushroom?"

I seriously doubt vader or yoda will be in it, with soul calibur 3 they had the same thing about dante being in it never happened. My favorite fighting game is Super Smash Bros. doesnt matter which version. I dont really have a favorite character though siegfried?sp? from SC3 is awesome design wise.

Feel free to open a seperate thread for each game you want to discuss... that's what this special forum is for, after all. :)

Angelspit seemed to be against that when he closed the previous one. Besides, this way I can attract attention to the more obscure fighting games, too.

Also, Vader and Yoda have been CONFIRMED. There's a trailer. See? That's Vader. Fighting a samurai.

If it was just called Soul Calibur 4 and had a "Discuss this game here!" in first post, there would be no problems.
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

Ah, yes, something like that. And also, we like first posters to actually begin a discussion (like you have here) and not just say "discuss" without bringing anything to the table. But generally, you can open a seperate thread for any game you want to talk about. :)

I'm not that excited about Soul Calibur 4. Sure I enjoy playing as Nightmare, but the game really old after awhile. Besides, why don't they give fighting game fans what they really want: Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

I really don't like Marvel vs Capcom 2. Too much of a lightshow, normal moves completely forgotten (Medium attacks gone! Gah!, bad soundtrack and horribly imbalanced.

Well I just got around to watching the trailer so I was wrong and as much as I would enjoy being darth vader I honestly dont think he belongs in a soul caliber game. But nerd issues aside I just hope this ones better than SC3. I also like siegfrieds new sword and outfit very holy warrior like.

Never got a chance to play 3 because of Namco's decision to give the finger to the XBox and Game Cube.

Link's throw was so incredibly cheap. Made some of the missions a breeze.

It is said on the SC2 forums that Link is a bottom-tier character. I haven't played the Gamecube version, so I don't have personal experience.

I wouldn't know. I don't bother with tiers. I get sick of constantly hearing about it on Smash Brothers forums. "Fox is god class," Sheik for teh win!," etc, etc.

It gets old fast, but Sheik does rock.

I love SC, ever since the debut on Dreamcast .... playing SC3 now, got it for christmas and I really enjoy it

Tekken I like, but don't love, used to be a massive MK fan and played a lot of SF back in the day, hyper fighting with guile was so cheap ;)

Street Fighter was and still is the fighting game for me. Looks great (love sprites) and the fighting is just awesome. Marvel superheroes VS Streetfighter is my favourite fighter ever, at least i played that the most!

marvel vs capcom was pretty cool, I put a fair bit of cash into that, but nothing ate more of my money than MK, except maybe Cadash

I am playing often with a friend the super smash bros melee at
Gamecube(with 2 AI chars also). I am not fun of console games
but this game is great!! The fights are so quick and chaotick and
has a lot of humor, we laught a lot when we play it, i suggest it
as the best multiplayer fighting game I've ever tried. Can't w8 to
check the Wii version of the game :P
